if someone has to make a public-facing workaround this brazen for your service "where open source communities live", you have truly fucked up (and i say this as someone who worked on a public linux distro with repositories blocked outside of EC2 for two years)
bandcamp won their union! bandcamp won their union!!
i'm so fucking happy for them, and also for the possible knock-on effects of some of epic game's holdings unionizing

y'know there should probably be a way to defederate software automatically based on what it is
like for example there are literally absolutely NO good soapbox instances because it's TERF software
so a tool to defederate those automatically would come in handy when facebook/meta/whatever try rearing their ugly head here
that way, when they arrive, we can block them en-masse simply and swiftly
re: nieuwsmedia
it's kind of funny to me how much the Legend of Zelda fandom clings to insisting that the games in the series can be assembled into any kind of coherent overarching narrative
I wish there were some way Nintendo could signal that the series is meant to operate on the logic of, like, a folklore tradition, not a historical textbook
Like, maybe, there's some word that they could use. They could put in the title of the series? or maybe that would be going too far idk
“My son spends too much time being fascinated by ants and clouds. He spends a lot of time watching the world go by will this improve?” - Real, if depressing, question from a parenting group.
MY GOD — I hope not!
It’s really strange how some things are seen as needlessly day-dreamy obsessions while other fixations aren’t questioned or encouraged. There is a whole language for understanding the world of ants, in the complexity of clouds— What questions do they raise that are so hard to let go of?
Enby terms
A few weeks ago, a bus driver noticed the They/Them buttons on my bag, and asked my what the gender neutral of Sir/Madam was. I didn't have a good answer, and couldn't find something after a brief bit of research; I think I just suggested "person", which is definitely weak.
Caught the bus today, same driver, and she remember me and said "I figured it out: comrade!"
I like this driver :D
