i boosted this site earlier but i think it deserves more explanation. this is a search engine for images that shows you the copyright status for the image right there front and center and you can filter for them. for instance i grabbed this copyright 0 image of an echidna from there. and it even generated a citation for me: "Echidna on the move" by CazzJj is marked with CC0 1.0. i think this is a really easy way for getting a reference image while ensuring the person who took the image consents to its use! https://openverse.org/

When asking your #autistic friend how they figured out that they are, in fact, autistic, keep this in mind:

Autism is defined as a collection of traits. Each trait, when viewed in isolation, can seem perfectly innocuous.

So when your friend gives an example of something they struggle with, you might be tempted to say, "but I do that too, and I'm not autistic" or "but everyone does that".

Your friend is only sharing a small fraction of the long list of ways in which they're different. That list is always very long, and kind of personal too. It's also difficult (and sometimes embarrassing) to convey the intensity of each item on that list.

Autistic people who weren't diagnosed in childhood frequently struggle with autistic imposter syndrome, and your kindly meant "well, everyone's a bit on the spectrum" or "you don't seem autistic!" can be painful and invalidating.

Een meerderheid van de Tweede Kamer heeft ingestemd met een motie van de fascistische partij JA21 om asielzoekers naar Rwanda te sturen. Kritiekpunten waren vooral dat het praktisch niet uitvoerbaar is... Dat het in strijd met de mensenrechten en meerdere Europese en andere internationale verdragen is heeft de Tweede kamer kennelijk niet tegengehouden.

Naast verbazing ben ik gewoon bang. Een dergelijk plan is al eens eerder geopperd. Toen was het Madagascar waar de Nazi's alle Joden heen wilden sturen. Dat bleek alleen praktisch niet haalbaar, zoals er nu ook vooral praktische bezwaren zijn geuit tegen het Rwandaplan. De volgende stap waren concentratiekampen...

Laat dat even tot je doordringen. De Tweede Kamer is één stap verwijderd van het creëren van concentratiekampen.

I know it upsets a lot of people when I point out hypocrisy in the way liberal policy conversations seem to ignore a still grave threat for millions of people in #COVID , but I do it for the same reason you want less guns.

All ages are being hurt. Hundreds of thousands will die every year from acute infection or complications from that infection.

If you want less guns, you should want less COVID transmission. But you can't just hope for it.

Over the past year or so something I've been really unpacking is how badly brainwashed I am by this particular nasty phase of capitalism where you have to have a ~thing~ and market yourself as the ~thing~ to the detriment of your wholeness. There are so many things I am interested in, I have a variety of skills and perspectives that in some ways converge and in other ways do not.
