rambly thoughts about society, past neglect ment, re: pain scale

i wonder why we aren't taught this in school? i know So Many People who underestimate their pain, and to be honest having a scale based on how much it affects you makes so much sense; if i'd have known that pain at a 6+ severity isn't normal i'd have seen a doctor far sooner... "parents" always told me i was faking and exaggerating and it wasn't that bad when i could barely walk and stay conscious..

pain scale

hi i think this is useful for quite a lot of people, so i'll post it

"Calling someone a piece of shit for expressing an opinion is a little harsh, don't you think?"

Look, if your opinion is that a movie is bad or the color red is a poor clothing choice or that tuna fish is yucky, yeah, that'd be harsh.

If your opinion is that LGBTQ+ people are lesser people who should never be seen in the world, piece of shit is the polite end of the scale and you can fucking take it as such or I'll drop the filter.

@EU_Commission These claims go entirely against the consensus in the field.

The projected growth in AI, blockchain, IoT will lead to a massive rise in emissions, not a reduction. And contrary to your claim, none of these technologies is essential in reducing emissions.

Quantum Computing is unlikely to be mainstream by 2050 and has currently no promise of energy efficiency. There are much more promising compute technologies. Space-based services cause emissions in the upper atmosphere which leads to additional warming of those layers, making global warming worse.

"This page looks better in our app."
It's funny how some sites try to present their failures as a good thing.

Talked to a lady who works for the tax authority yesterday. Based on her job experience, her take on the welfare state is something like this:
"Of course there will always be freeloaders. So what?! This is about dignity. Everyone has a right to a good life and to be supported when they're struggling. If you want that, you've got to live with the freeloaders. Leave them be. That's the price you pay for a society where everyone is taken care of. It's not like they're doing any damage in the big picture - I've run those numbers more than once. You'll always get more out of it for society at large when you're incentivising good performance than when you're punishing people."

I'm looking for examples of written institutional commitments to an LGBTI+ inclusive workplace, ideally in the research or higher education sectors.

Also ideally some that go beyond "we promise we'll obey the law".

Do you know of such examples? Boosts ok

Also maybe I should create a lewd account at some point

kink

Some reasons:
- Much safer against chipped teeth
- Doesn't put pressure against palate
- Adjustable instead of fixed-size
- You actually get the full opening diameter, because your teeth rest *on* it, instead of *in front of* it like with a ring gag
- Which also means no unintentional teeth scraping on any inserted uhhhh objects :p

(Specifically I got a Jennings-style one, 'brand' is Kiotos Bizarre)

Got my (rubberized) mouth spreader, and am now 100% convinced that people should be using these instead of ring gags, the design just makes so much more sense, also from a safety perspective

I have resorted to sticking the document onto my 3D Printer SD card and just printing from USB on the printer itself, and it works fine now

I am once again asking Linux developers to make sure that basic functionality like "printing multiple copies of a document" actually works

Christian fascism is on the rise and liberals (and the academics that should've known better) are doing nothing to stop it. In fact, they largely refuse to even see what is happening. They are more interested in appeasement and keeping the system running smoothly, because what would be necessary to stop the rise of fascism is a destruction of the order that created it.

cohost-adjacent, FOSS

The whole situation with cohost is IMO also an indictment of the broader FOSS community, which has clearly failed at effectively communicating to the general public *why* open systems matter (eg. possibility to correct governance issues), instead just presenting "well, it's open" as if that in and of itself is something people are expected to care about, without any understanding of how that materially improves their circumstances
