Got an email from Meetup. They've finally zeroed in on the sort of groups I'd be interested in.

When I was a kid, they made being smart sound like it was the most important quality of a human being. Turns out that was a crock of shit.

it's funny how there are shitloads of cautionary and historical tales about ppl being forced to fight each other to the death (tributes of panem, gladiator, etc), all of whom have basically fascists as the antagonists, and noone would have ever considered turning these into a reality show, bc that's just so bad and terrible and yea don't make the torment nexus.

but then a show of exactly this type comes up, except their fascist antagonists are neolib-painted and have a happy corporate style, and suddenly it is acceptable to turn it into a reality show.

the lesson is that making a story about ppl being murdered "real" is socially acceptable as long as the murderers are neolibs

The problem with having ADHD in this society is that I need accommodations to help me advocate to get the diagnosis to be able to get accommodations with

Especially because they (intentionally??) set the system up in such a way that the people who need it the most have the most difficulty accessing it

Please I literally have an executive function disorder please don't make me do things that require initiative and checking in to make sure I have /actually/ been put on the years-long waitlist

surprised no one's drawn much of a link between the state health and social care has been in in the UK over the past couple decades and the fact all the jobs going unfilled are the ones that require able bodied people

whether you're cis or trans, if you accept trans people but ignore or think less of or ditch the ones who aren't cheery all the time, aren't your idea of a "cute trans person", or have struggles that require you to accommodate them, you're actually still just a transphobe

… And that’s why it riles me up to no end to see corporations like Mozilla Corporation that are not what they say they are getting away with blatantly lying to our faces while very successfully staving off effective regulation for Big Tech, sucking up funding, and acting as honeypots for devs who do really care only to neutralise them with projects they know will not actually threaten the Silicon Valley status quo.

And I get it. Everything’s so shit you WANT to believe there are folks out there doing what they say they do… that they’re on your side, fighting Big Tech, protecting your privacy… I get it because – fuck it – I want to believe that. And yes, there are folks like that too… and they’re usually struggling to get by and rarely get any funding or support from anyone…
