First, thanks to fellow Nix and Lix hackers for sending us a heads-up, for sharing Snyk’s detailed report, and for coordinating with us. 👍
I did a little experiment today and figured out a new painting technique: using a (very wide) putty knife to paint a desktop!
The goal was to get a smooth, even layer of paint down, with no visible strokes; on top of a desktop that was already in quite poor shape, with some bits bulging out slightly.
Will have to see how it dries, of course, but so far the results are looking very promising!

Debugging a bug in my async streams code, and ran across this comment I left for myself a couple months ago:
"FIXME: Verify that this doesn't ever introduce race conditions"
Guess it's time to do that verification now!

It’s the same anger I feel whenever I see someone calling themselves an “entrepreneur.” To me, that word will always mean “I look for ways to exploit labor and customers, so that I can personally enrich myself at the expense of others.”

I think what makes me so incredibly angry about AI is that it’s not there to reduce *your* work. It’s there to reduce the amount of labor that CEOs have to pay for.
There’s no world in which doing *your* job a little faster is worth the trillions of dollars in investment; this is entirely predicated on eliminating working class jobs.
And *no one* should be excited about that, except for billionaires.

@venite En voor de zelfstandig ondernemers die van solidariteit houden: Word lid van een Broodfonds. Ik was ook niet van plan om ziek te worden toen ik ondernemer werd. En ik vond het al die jaren fijn om mede-leden financieel te steunen als ze ziek werden.
Toen ik zelf ziek werd moest ik een grote drempel over, maar het doet me zo goed.Natuurlijk heb ik de financiële steun nodig, maar alles eromheen doet zoveel meer. De steun, de warmte, de goede wensen 💛

Eén van de “we laten het niet gebeuren”-tips is lid worden van een vakbond. Mijn vakbondspersoon helpt me momenteel met de WIA en dat is zó fijn (de enige persoon die zowel alle regels kent als 100% aan mijn kant staat). Hierom was ik geen lid, ik ging tenslotte niet ziek worden - ik was lid uit solidariteit en omdat vakbonden ons geweldige dingen hebben gegeven zoals het concept “weekend” en de 40-urige werkweek.
Dus word lid van een vakbond!!
In related news, Nijmegen station is basically a construction site right now...
