Debugging a bug in my async streams code, and ran across this comment I left for myself a couple months ago:
"FIXME: Verify that this doesn't ever introduce race conditions"
Guess it's time to do that verification now!
(And also it is in fact the source of the bug I was trying to track down, and it isn't the first time that a bughunt lands me at a FIXME from past-me either)
Well, dear reader, it turns out that past-me's spidey sense was on point, and it does in fact introduce race conditions
