@MamaLake @actuallyautistic I found myself thinking yesterday that "I'm not too sensitive. It's the rest of the world is not sensitive enough. And the world would be a better place if more people were this sensitive."
Is there a coop or collective of disabled people in tech where you can go to hire accessibility experts? I don't want to continue to release software unless I know its accessible, but I can't know that unless I have my software audited by disabled tech experts that know the pitfalls of these things. I don't need free labour either. I am happy to pay for this service.
Searching for hackers (hacker: anyone that likes making technology do what wasn't intended) to build a community for jailbreaking MR headsets
Chat anyone interested in glitching Mixed Reality headsets ? I'm trying to build a community so we can get something done, as there's a bunch of folks that wanna charge money for it and I don't really like that idea x3.
The main SoC is XR2 by Qualcomm, it is an ARM SoC, and most of the headsets run very locked-down Android.
The goal here is to try to jailbreak it so we can run custom, fully open source software on it, possibly even mainline drivers to Linux and run something like #postmarketos :)
Unfortunately I am a systems hacker, I am hopeless when it comes to electric engineering anything, so I cannot actually pull off glitching myself. I can help with the stuff that comes after, such as mainlining drivers, though :)

Please boost! Let's build an open and accessible community!
Any help is appreciated, no information is useless! If you would be interested in helping, we need anyone with, including BUT NOT LIMITED TO
MR headsets for testing
Electrical engineering knowledge
Ability to design or assemble PCBs
Reading ARM disassembles to try to find a glitch point or a bootrom exploit or w/e
General experience with hacking embedded devices
Experience with Linux or Android security for rooting
Anyone with info about TEE/TrustZone (kexecing mainline kernel from rooted Android)
Contacts to folks that have any of the above
Experience managing communities and setting up bridges, wikis...
A game design professor is kicking off his courses with a short game of chance that demonstrates their chances of getting long covid, and over 95% of his students end up wearing masks in his classroom! The game is called "The Haunted Woods". https://thesicktimes.org/2025/05/06/long-covid-mode-seeing-the-crisis-through-games/
If you spend enough time in the "social media for public good" space, you'll realize there is a subset of people who essentially want to build what I call "Valhalla but for debate club members".
Their vision of a perfect social media experience is endless debate about big important ideas where people constantly get to show off how much more rational and civil they are than each other. The debate never ends. If you are obliterated in the public sphere you are reanimated. It's all in good fun.
There's very valid reasons to stay on Windows or macOS. But also, it's valid and important, I believe, to know what your limits are and when it's bad enough that you need to jump. If that's when you start planning your next steps, it's going to be much rougher.
Knowing what your options are *even if you don't prefer or choose those options* helps keep you from getting stuck or trapped, I'll posit.
I've talked a bunch about exit strategies on here, but mostly in the form of knowing where the exits from centralized corporate platforms like Bluesky are.
It's also important, I believe, to know what possible exits you have from the corporate OS duopoly of macOS and Windows. That's not to say "go use Linux!1!!1," it's to note that Cook gave a massive donation to Trump and that Windows is quickly getting more and more AI-laden. At some point, you may not have a choice… planning ahead can help.
just negotiated a 50% discount on my EE mobile plan, in part thanks to @unlobito
apparently the strat is to wait until the contract expires, request a PAC, and then you get a call from the magic discount people (which happened to me here)
For anyone interested in the secrets of living a fulfilling and satisfying life, I know of no better set of hints than to consider all the things that are explicitly devalued, derided, even outright forbidden under white anti-culture:
Things like softness, vulnerability, weakness, silliness, frivolity, spontaneous dancing, ecstatic laughter, femininity, affection for tiny things, childlike wonder, uncompromising honesty, playful imagination, love, reverence, rich connection to the past, celebration of our deep interdependence on each other, crying until our feelings are finally felt...
These are among the most sacred elements of a truly flourishing life.
It is no coincidence that the society around us works so hard to push us away from them.
Technical debt collector and general hype-hater. Early 30s, non-binary, ND, poly, relationship anarchist, generally queer.
Sometimes horny on main (behind CW), very much into kink (bondage, freeuse, CNC, and other stuff), and believe it or not, very much a submissive bottom :p
Feel free to flirt, but if you want to actually meet up and/or do something with me, lewd or otherwise, please tell me explicitly or I won't realize :) I'm generally very open to that sort of thing!
Further boundaries: boosts are OK (including for lewd posts), DMs are open. But the devil doesn't need an advocate; I'm not interested in combative arguing in my mentions. I am however happy to explain things in-depth when asked non-combatively.
My spoons are limited, so I may not always have the energy to respond to messages.
Strong views about abolishing oppression, hierarchy, agency, and self-governance - but I also trust people by default and give them room to grow, unless they give me reason not to. That all also applies to technology and how it's built.
