Whether or not the so-called "federal government" decides to recognize Black History Month doesn't mean shit to us here. WE know who built this country through blood, sweat, & tears! & who FORCED that blood, that sweat, those tears, in one of the most inhumane totalitarian systems known to history!

In celebration of Black history, we are calling for submissions on Black liberation: past, present, future. 1,000 word or 3 image limit.

Signal-boosting:

"If you or a loved one was recently fired from the federal government during your probationary period, and the reason you were given was poor performance, please reach out to us at www.centerforemploymentjustice.com.

We have a plan and may be able to help you."

Fairweather friends, indeed.

#OnThisDay, 24 Feb 1968, Jocelyn Bell Burnell - along with her male supervisor and three other men - published a paper confirming the discovery of pulsars. She had built the array, picked up the signal and argued it was not an anomaly. Hewish received the Nobel prize for it in 1974: Bell Burnell did not.

In 2018 Bell Burnell received a £3m prize for her work. She's used it to set up a foundation to improve the diversity in STEM.

The problem with working until your brain shuts off is that you have very little brain left to toot about it once you're lying on the couch in a heap recovering.

Suffice it to say, the future library got some serious work done on the ceiling, and I have many redacted words about the quick fixes of previous inhabitants of #ThisOldClownHouse.

Also, trying to tape cracked drywall over your head is messy work.

all furniture manufacturers that send you furniture and don't include manuals inside are entitled to seven million years of hell

Please get interested in RSS.

Please write cute little tutorials on how to make feeds out of any sort of page, handmade or otherwise. Please write little apps to read them that are stylish or lush and beautiful instead of dark and spare.

Please share feeds, and show screenshots of you using your reader to view articles about science and design and literature and someone's thrift haul.

Are there still atom feeds? If so, pretend I said this about atom. I like fedi, but I don't want to live in a world where everything is inherently social rather than accessible based on affection, passion and curiosity.

The only thing I don't like about Stardew is the whole "gotta get away from the big city" vibe. There are small little communities that need your help with the community center IN the big city. Too many people just aren't plugged in.

And the garden needs a lot of love and you *will* be exhausted.

You want wizards? We have SO MANY wizards.
We have a guy who lives in a tent.
A next to useless, embezzling mayor? We've got those too!
Artistic beachy man? We have that! The man AND the beach!

Stardew Valley but it's the South Bronx 1960s, you run a community garden & Jojamart is Robert Moses with the Cross Bronx Expressway.

The mines? Subway tunnels with a secret passage to North Brother Island.

Build friendship with the local teens by helping them to find a productive use for their love of graffiti-- But, don't offend the sweet church ladies: you'll need *their* help as well to stop the expressway.

"Ban advertising" really just feels like "ban asbestos" at this point.
