kink is a very demanding hobby. your project isn't something it's some_one_. you can't half-ass it with someone at your mercy, you need to be fully, 100% assed.

in retrospect I think this is one thing that kept me away from it. the feeling that I don't have the physical and mental space for it, that my house is a mess, my life, how am I supposed to project confidence and power. I'm going to be a disappointment. I need to first fix literally everything about me, and then in the future where I got my crap together and became That Girl, then maybe I try domming again.

you know, That Girl? gets up at 6am, does mediation and fifty burpees, moves her perfect chiselled ass to the kitchen to have a breakfast all of nutritious, delicious, and cost-optimised, treats her skin to a perfect care routine before assembling an effortlessly chic athleisure OOTD, all sustainable fair labour fashion ofc, then sits in time to work on her poems before work... 41 years and so far nothing, but I'll be becoming her any day now I'm sure.

this is exactly backwards, I think. see, as soon as I first tried to do a "time log" on my bujo I quickly realised that what I felt as a "lack of time" was really a lack of energy, of wherewithal. my ADHD, my emotional baggage. my feeling of ostracism, of disposability, my overwhelm, my helpless sadness and fury over the pain of the world, the constant bitter humiliation of having to submit to forms and meaningless busywork to be allowed to *exist*. all of that stands between me and cleaning up the table and making breakfast, the emotions, the feeling like you can't do anything.

Now bear with me here cos I'm going to say a crazy theory that I've been developing:

Domming makes me feel powerful.

Weird, I know. Like right now I feel ready to tackle the entire world. Bring it on I mean ok it's a fantasy, an illusion we constructed together, me and her, bit of a head trip if I'm honest. I'm not going to single-handledly dismantle capitalism and human supremacy by Tuesday. But if it feels like I can, then I can certainly take out the trash, right? All this daily stuff that a month ago felt so overwhelming now feels so... small. Of course I can walk out in the cold, what, is a bit of stairs supposed to intimidate me? I can do much more than that, I can do whatever the Hell I want to, I am Mistress.

bro. if not for the janitors you'd drown in shit. if not for the workers and engineers, the receptionists, the call centre operators, the couriers, the designers and accountants and god knows who else, your enterprise would come to a screeching, dead halt.

i've been told my whole life that bugs are weird or scary or gross. i took it to heart, rarely sharing my interest in them. hiding that i find them beautiful and fascinating. but being on here, seeing so many share my excitement has really helped me fully embrace my love for all things creepy and crawly. i love your bug pictures and i love your appreciation for them. thank you for that, even if no one else in your life appreciates bugs, i do.
