Quietly screaming into the void as people on Discord complain that there's no social media that works and cohost is dying and bird site is dying and Twitch is sinking into a bog, and why won't someone make something that doesn't need a big corporations to run it.

And I'm just like "Yeah I've been on fedi and been happy about it for years" and they ignore it and go on with "Too bad nothing exists that isn't those options yeah"

Fedi tip: nobody knows how mastodon works. Ive been on here since 2018 and i have my own instance and i still have absolutely no idea why some avatars dont load or i only see some of the replies in a thread or why gifs sometimes work and sometimes they dont. Just embrace the mystery

My greatest advice to those concerned: Start archiving. If you come across something you believe is valuable: make a copy.

If you follow a guide on how to install and configure software and you found it helpful: make a copy.

If you come across a video you really enjoy and find yourself coming back to again and again: make a copy.

If it means anything to you: make a copy, or you'll wish you did.
