Complaining that 'I can't say anything anymore bc people will judge me' is really a subtle attempt at reversing victim and offender. Instead of directly justifying their speech, one complains of unfair criticism and demonization—justifying the original speech as retaliation.

I *should* still have a partly complete Cybot somewhere!
For context, this was a magazine series where a new issue came out every 14 days, and each issue included a component of a robot; you'd end up building it over time. It could be controlled manually, or follow lines / detect obstacles.
Horrendously expensive in the end, but very very cool nevertheless.

Yay, ze gaan eindelijk stoppen met discrimineren. Maar eerst nog even 10 maanden doorgaan met discrimineren.
Want hoewel we alles prima hadden kunnen voorbereiden op deze verandering, hebben we de afgelopen jaren die tijd en energie verspild aan goedpraten van de discriminatie, fabeltjes verspreiden over waarom homobloed statistisch gevaarlijker zou zijn dan heterobloed, en doen alsof het onontkomelijk was dat de vragen nu eenmaal zo geformuleerd moesten worden.
Oh man, I was just reminded of the Real Robots magazine series, and that's a bit of a throwback

they always say that helping the poor or making healthcare free is unprofitable, but like, i don't care. if you designed such a system where money is more important than human lives (and any life in general), it's a shitty, immoral system by default and needs to be changed or abandoned ASAP. and if you support it, that says more about you than it ever could say anything about me.
