I'm posting this partially to acknowledge progress and to thank all who made it happen, but also to encourage those who get discouraged and think that one individual can't change anything big.
In 2018, I received my Census code in the mail. I'm totally blind and had difficulty performing OCR on the code, so I asked the Census Help Line if I could have the code texted to me. They first said that would be fine, but then said they couldn't do it for "security reasons" a standard phrase that is often used to fob people off.
After I issued a media release, being interviewed by several. media organisations and the Minister being asked to comment, a senior official from Statistics NZ actually came to our house on a Sunday afternoon to read me my code, which was absurd.
I started a Parliamentary petition. I appeared before a Select Committee. The Committee was sympathetic. I got a personal apology from the Minister sent to me as an inaccessible PDF image so they had to send it a second time. But in the end, I got a commitment that yes, blind people count and this debacle would never happen again.
Here we are in 2023 and its census time again. This year, I went to the fully accessible website, completed a fully accessible form to get my code texted to me, and have now completed the fully accessible form. I know this wouldn't have happened had I not taken a stand.
So when you think you can't change things for the better, please don't sell yourself short. Each of us have the ability, and I maintain we have the duty, to make good change in the world.
Thank you to all those involved in Government at all levels for getting it so right this time.

I just don't accept that kind of defeatism. Societies have changed throughout history. Sometimes slowly, sometimes very quickly, but they do change.

Nothing will be the same way forever. We absolutely can make positive change. Even if it's hard.

i've mostly vagueposted about it before because it's a quick tool I wanted to build for myself, with no time for prolonged support/additional features

but I made a medication tracker that fits better with my personal (adhd) needs, namely no set schedule, but still getting reminders to take the next dose after a certain interval.

After evaluating existing options https://f-droid.org/en/packages/dev.corruptedark.diditakemymeds/ came closest, but when used in 'take as needed' mode, there's no notification/interval options at all, and my general rhythm isn't consistent enough for anything pre-scheduled.

Lijkt me leuk om iets te doen voor het klimaat ofzo. Tata onder strict toezicht zetten. Shell afbreken. Huizen isoleren en warmtepompen uitdelen. Dat soort dingetjes.

Als je dit allemaal moeilijk vind, je kan ook gewoon aftreden. Maakt niet uit of je dat voor of na de verkiezingen doet.

Als je echt niet weet waar je dit van moet betalen, begin es met het afschaffen van die subsidies. Heb je meteen ook 17,5 miljard (per jaar!) beschikbaar voor dingen zoals het herstellen van de rechtstaat. Zoals een labeltje voor de la met bonnetjes, een telefoon met meer geheugen voor sms'jes, en daarna misschien iets doen aan de toeslagenaffaire ofzo. Als je dat gedaan heb, heb je waarschijnlijk nog 17,45 miljard over gok ik.

Godvertetyfus wat een lul ben jij. Demonstranten laten betalen voor die waterkanonnen? Wat is dat voor bullshit? De brugemeester heeft die die dingen besteld. Stuur de rekening lekker naar die idioot. Weet je wie nog meer een idioot is? Die presentator tegenover je. Dat ie zo'n vraag stelt en het nog serieus meent ook. Walgelijk.

Gisteren werden er op bevel van de Haagse VVD burgemeester ruim vijfhonderd klimaatactivisten gearresteerd - ik werd al eerder uit de demo gebonjoured door de popo, mn demonstratierecht ontnomen zonder arrestatie - nadat drie uit Duitsland gehuurde waterkanonnen op de vreedzame demonstranten werden leeggespoten en meerdere mensen werden geknuppeld. Een dag eerder zette de VVD een campagnefilmpje online waarin ze (o.a.) deze klimaatdemonstranten als dé vijand neerzetten met de tekst "Laat ze niet winnen." Vandaag zegt Rutte dat we het verdienden. De verkiezingen komen er weer aan woensdag, en begint weer met vingerwijzen in de hoop dat niemand naar hun wijst voor alle shit waarmee ze het land achterlaten.

Na tien jaar Rutte is echter wel duidelijk wie er wint en verliest in dit land. Terwijl alle prijzen stijgen en lonen achterblijven maken de grootste bedrijven recordwinsten. Na tien jaar Rutte heeft tien procent van de Nederlanders twee derde van al het vermogen in handen. Na tien jaar Rutte is het meeste nieuwe werk onderbetaald flexwerk. In tien jaar Rutte werden toeslagenouders vermorzeld en Groningers een rad voor de ogen gedraaid. In tien jaar Rutte is er niets gedaan aan klimaatverandering. In tien jaar Rutte is haat en racisme normaal geworden.

I've said this a hundred times before but we really really need to get rid of Eugen Mastodon and his mastodon gGmbH shit before he teams up with facebook and google and whoever else to EEE the fediverse to death

Everyone who cares about having a safe community far away from the control of big tech corporations and without the toxicity of profit-oriented growth-/engagement-/etc.-obession should be switching away from "official" Mastodon right now

Switch to hard forks that don't automatically apply all of eugen's changes, switch to one of the many distinct fedi-platforms out there, be it Misskey/Calckey, Akkoma, GotoSocial, there is sooo much choice out there.

But stop giving eugen mastodon so much power over what happens to your communities.

I'm looking for some streaming platform that allows for more nsfw content than twitch because I want to do some mildly lewd streams for my Mastodon followers.
I looked into OwnCast but I don't think I can set that up after all. I was told about joystick.tv but they want photos of my ID if I wanna stream?? I'm confused ;~;
Does anyone have any recommendations?
