Teaching kids that textbooks or teachers are a neutral source of factual information is a major part of the reason that people have a hard time recognizing when a source isn't reliable!!!
Like the fact that kids will say that they know a document is a reliable source of information because it was written by a historian or the government means that we have failed them horribly

This is #SocialMurder and there is no less severe word to call it, only worse.
I grew up in NL and the #ableism is horrific. I was kicked from schools for being chronically ill. I was ridiculed by doctors. I was denied care. I was subjected to degrading tests by the government for a chance at a measly benefit. I was bullied, hated, forcibly pushed away from society.
The first covid speech in the NL spoke of #HerdImmunity. Cold shivers down my spine. Obvious it was going to end like this.

The Outbreak Management Team of The Netherlands declared #covid endemic and advices to end testing, isolating and any #covid19 measures still in place (barely any). They proudly call this a milestone.
What about immunocompromised people? They just need to watch out and keep a safe distance from sick people, or kindly ask sick people to wear a mask when approaching them.
What about #LongCovid and other possible bad outcomes? Just gently ignore that. Shhh. We don't speak about those.

the worst part isn't even the hate
it's the apathy
it's the cis people who stand idly by and say "this isn't my fight"
even though it totally is
this shouldn't be the only reason you care but, transphobic legislation can impact us all
some of them even profess to be allies, but when push comes to shove they're not even gonna correct someone who misgenders you
at the end of the day, not making a scene is more important to them than standing up for what's right
Another addition: "let us know if you cannot afford this" really isn't enough. It pretty clearly signals "we don't think you belong here if you're poor, but if you ask real nice we might be generous", which is extremely fucked up.
I really should write a broader article about accessible in-person events some day...
