nl pol, police violence

So in NL, leftist/climate/social/etc. activists consistently get beaten up by police and arrested overnight to break up protests, with zero recourse or consequences

Meanwhile a bunch of nazi-adjacent farmers in tractors have been blocking highways all day today, endangering drivers, and issuing explicit threats of violence to politicians, and the police are "in talks with them" and "do not have the capacity to break it up"

"(...) 58% of the rapeseed – and 9% of the sunflower oil – consumed in Europe between 2015 and 2019 was burned in cars and trucks, even though their climate impacts may be even worse than fossil fuels. Supermarkets have had to ration vegetable oils and prices are soaring,” said Maik Marahrens from the campaign group Transport & Environment, which carried out the research. “At the same time, we are burning thousands of tons of sunflower and rapeseed oil in our cars daily. In a time of scarcity we must prioritise food over fuel.”

The famed efficiency of the free market is yet again on display for everyone to marvel at its perfection, I see.

can't stop thinking about how the movie Cars basically proves that if the USA were built for sentient automobiles and no humans existed, the country would look basically the same.

So let me get this straight:

Github scanned a bunch of open source projects.

They trained an AI with it.

They basically ignored the licenses and tried to shove a "because we are basically copying GPL code, it doesn't mean the result is GPL".

And now they are charging for it?

just stopped to get petrol and when we came out of the kiosk some dick parked at a pump in a winnebago started honking the horn at us. we got closer to give them a piece of our mind and it was a fucking dog

All people (yes “users”) should be told that they can control their computer, that they can hack on things. Acting like it's only possible for some elite priesthood is harmful...

yes I know, but I believe lots of people can (with great effort) do a really simple silly programming thing, and they should 𝗯𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼!

Firefox Nightly includes (bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.) a built-in tracking query param stripper! 🤓

The default set of stripped params is quite limited for now, but you can add your own via the `privacy.query_stripping.strip_list` pref (space-separated).

@evelyn@misskey.bubbletea.dev As a user AWS is cursed. As a dev in employment it's great because for some obscure reason it is more socially acceptable for my site to go down with the rest of the entire internet and even if my site is less available on AWS through some magical means less things are my fault since most people forget that I was the one who put it there.

Last Saturday there was a #Demonstration for #Anarchy in #Amsterdam North. Although everything was peaceful, the cops went violent when they saw two #ACAB :acab: banners! Pavlov effect 101!

They didn't succeed to crap the first banner (that is in the beginning of this video) and from what I have heard, they where able to confiscate the second banner (at the end of the video).

This is the police in the #Netherlands nowadays. Even if you organize a demonstration far from the much to touristic city center (called 'Amusement Park Amsterdam), it still isn't good enough for those ..... [fill in preferred slur]! 😡

It is also against their own laws what they did. The original and only valid definition of freedom of speech, is that you are allowed to criticize the state and its institutions. It's in the fucking Dutch constitution and EU treaties! Big change a judge will condemn is, at least on European/international level.

⚠️ Anyhow, Content Warning / Trigger Warning for the video, because of police violence!

Faces are blurred, like it should be in these circumstances. Thank you Oscar!

Scope issues aside, SPI appears on paper to be a much scarier protocol than it actually is. So here's the summary.

You have lines for clock, data out, data in, and chip select. Chip select must be unique for each device that you're controlling.

To send a message, assert CS for the target device. Write a bit on the data out line. Then toggle clock on for a moment. The device may be sending a bit to you on your data in line.

Change the lines when the clock is low, read when clock goes high.

smokers, protests

Can smokers please just stay home during protests if they can't do without smoking in the crowd. Seriously if you are a person who smokes in groups just like think about other people instead of trying to asphalt everyone's lungs please. Chanting about solidarity and then excluding people with lung conditions is hypocritical and rude. I am extremely sick of coughing a fit and being excluded from groups I want to walk with because of smokers. It's really not that hard to just not or at least move out of the crowd instead of forcing me to.

There is no mention of the fact that the computer is "too old to receive security updates" on the webpage telling you to purchase the computer.
