This is a subtoot and should probably be a blog post. But basically some techbros are re-inventing mesh radios (badly) going on like my 20th year of tinkering in this corner of tech.
Low cost, developer friendly mesh radios have kinda been going in circles for decades.
So in many ways I guess I shouldn't be surprised to review yet another cheap mesh radio project and realize, "dude this just plain sucks and isn't improving at all, oh and the community is kinda awful".

If you find later on that you need the illustration for something else (e.g. your book is being expanded into a boardgame), you can always contact the artist at that point for another license and discuss the fees.
Remember: artists are humans too. We want to see you succeed. Contacting us again with a "hey guess what, I'd like to expand on this project" is not going to make you look weird, it's going to make us very happy for you.

(Indie) authors and other commercial commissioners: you do NOT need to purchase the full rights to a piece right off the bat. Save yourself a lot of money and ask for a usage license. This is a license to use the illustration for your book/boardgame/whatever only.
A usage license for just your book/boardgame/company mantlepiece will suffice just as well and cost you a lot less than a full buyout.

To reproduce
1. Have Signal on iPhone and iPad that you don't use that much
2. Block someone on Signal with phone
3. Wait a good long time to use iPad, long enough that when you open Signal on iPad it gives you the "syncing stuff" screen
4. Your phone will inform you that you unblocked the user in question, even though you absolutely did not
5. Hope that person wasn't abusive and that this doesn't put you in danger
6. Hope the @signalapp devs take this seriously

@mdione @thibaultmol The problem is that NixOS generates new boot images *very* frequently, because it needs an unbroken chain of explicit store paths from the moment of boot. So if your /boot is less than 512MB or you don't constantly delete old system revisions, you *will* run into this issue basically guaranteed

Oh and -- if you have a passport with an "X" gender, I strongly recommend making any trips out of the country one-way for now, as there's some talk of denying re-entry or allowing re-entry but confiscating your passport so you can't leave again.
I don't know how credible those are yet. Just advising caution.
I've also seen it recommended that if you're trans and not a US citizen, that you hold off on any trips to the US at least until things settle down.
