@WeirdWriter I'm trying to work out where the issues are based on your edit, but I'm having some trouble.

I'm seeing labels with checkbox elements nested inside them for answers in the regular test mode (despite there also being a custom span for visual effect), for example, and the WAVE evaluator claims that these are correctly associated.

I'm also not quite sure what 'the navigation area' refers to - I thought you meant the menu on the left where you can navigate between questions, but according to Firefox's (accessibility) tree those all seem to be hyperlinks with recognized label texts.

Am I looking in the right place, or am I missing something?

uspol, autism

RFK Jr does not genuinely believe that they will find "the cause of autism" by September, nor is there any intention to do so. They understand perfectly well that that's not possible.

It's just a pretext so that when they make up some eugenics bullshit in September, it'll sound more credible because now people will believe that it came from "science".

I understand people might need formal diagnosis for a number of reasons. I do want to share this however as a note of warning, that a record of neurodivergence can be weaponized by governments.

@JosKleverWebSupport @ipstenu@tech.lgbt I mean, this is not the kind of thing where one can afford to be any less than crystal clear about the intention, so "saying A but meaning B" seems in and of itself like a significant safety risk.

@49016 @nex @vikxin This reminds me of one of the Sly Fox(?) games which, if it detects a pirated copy, quietly changes your jump height or so, so that you get stuck at some now-unpassable point in the middle of the game

lmfaooo turns out the "software terminated" phone number from the ps1 modchip detection still works and while they do take a bit to find the info they actually still tell you to remove the modchip when calling them

“Separate the art from the artist” is an idea from literary criticism: it’s about giving you permission to talk about what the art _does_ without having to argue about whether the artist _intended_ that effect.

It’s not a moral framework! It doesn’t say anything about how to feel about buying a product, art or otherwise, that supports creators with odious opinions.

It’s not incongruent to be totally subscribed to the Death of the Author and also not want to buy any Harry Potter stuff.

hot take, social media

I think social-media-as-a-service has done far more damage to society than even public commentators recognize; because it has deprived an entire generation of learning both how to build community yourself, and why that is an important and necessary thing to know.

END OF 10

"Support for Windows 10 ends on October 14, 2025.

Microsoft wants you to buy a new computer.

But what if you could make your current one fast and secure again?

If you bought your computer after 2010, there's most likely no reason to throw it out. By just installing an up-to-date GNU/Linux operating system you can keep using it for years to come.

Installing an OS may sound difficult, but you don't have to go it alone! With any luck, there are people in your area ready to help!"

@Timo_Micro Sowieso een beetje een sigaar uit eigen doos, nadat de (vorige) overheid al dit soort verantwoordelijkheden naar het gemeentelijk niveau verschoven heeft...

Something that keeps bothering me is how there's seemingly no good answers in UI design.

There's high variation in whether people find light or dark themes easier to read. Familiar UI is easier to adopt, but restricts the ability to experiment with new UI mechanisms that could exceed familiarity's benefit in how much easier something becomes to use.

And so the logical conclusion of those sorts of things would be that "UIs should be swappable" but then you just end up at a different version of the problem: having a generic high-level API restricts the experimentation you can do with a UI, yet allowing direct access to internals interferes with long-term maintenance and reliability.

It's immensely frustrating. There's just two evils to pick from at every turn.

i think instead of machine algorithms controlled by corpos we should go back to using tags or creating things like playlists but for people you want to follow

If anyone had a 90s HD Camera/Camcorder lying around, please let me know, I'm looking for one (something like a Sony HDW-700A).
HDW-730 and up are already released in the 2000s as far as I can see.
