I must inform my university and my government that if I know one thing about innovation, it's that it's never, ever done by the kind of people who use the word "innovation"

How did this turn from "me trying to find a date" into "meta-analysis of dating platform that is a decade beyond its prime"

I don't know what I was expecting, but it wasn't "people go wild for the idea of sleep sex and absolutely nothing else"

I just talked to a computer far away without using a computer in front of me. I did it to accurately check what time it is.

Honestly what I hate most about the "our platform is better in the app uwu" shit is how condescending it is, as if anyone actually believes that they're forced to cut shit out of the web version because "sowwy we need access to all your data to be able to show you comments :(" 💀

At least be honest about it and say "yeah this is a limited version cause it makes us less money", worst case scenario it comes off as the same amount of annoying

hookups/lewd meta, half shitposting by this point

Results of my A/B testing thus far: I am starting to understand why porn videos always use these corny plots, and also apparently nobody has a place to themselves anymore??

Due to circumstances beyond my control, today is Monday.

When a leftist has a privilege, they should see it as an obligation to wield it for the benefit of those who don't have it.

@futurebird The same thing has happened to me so many times.

I more broadly feel that "dealing with criticism" is a lost skill of sorts, to be honest, and one that people should be actively practicing and cultivating regardless of their political views... but I've tried to argue for this (as well as the counterpart of giving constructive criticism) and both concepts just seem to be completely unfamiliar to so many people 😒

I think liberals sometimes ignore leftists because everyone has had someone criticize them for being insensitive- or problematic and that’s always an unpleasant experience especially if they have a point. “you really shouldn’t use the word ‘idiot’ it has a long ableist history” this is true… and I’m working on it. But my initial reaction to being corrected is never graceful. No way! I want to find a reason why I did nothing wrong— or if I was wrong? It wasn’t serious. 1/

lewd-adjacent, complaining

@marlies (It was kind of an early attempt at an online equivalent of gay cruising spots, unfortunately it has also inherited all of the sketchy stuff that comes with that, though at least there's some moderation nowadays)

lewd-adjacent, complaining

@marlies Ah yeah no, this one long predates even the concept of smartphone apps, it's *old* and as far as I can tell a banner ad is all they have in terms of revenue

lewd-adjacent, complaining

@marlies This is a free one (and primarily for hookups rather than long-term dating) so I'm not sure what they're hoping to gain from that, in their business model it makes more sense to make the experience nice so that people keep coming back IMO

And also, if you cannot even take the time to read and answer a simple question, what makes you think I'm going to meet up with you? Like, come on

If you saw me like this and you could do anything, what would you do?
