re: meta
@Byte Yeah, already fired off a report to that effect
"I was given some advice before making it into Parliament - to not take anything personally or it'll eat you up."
"In only a couple of weeks, in only 14 days, this Government has attacked my whole world from every corner."
"Health, taiao (environment), wai (water), whenua (land), natural resources, Māori wards, reo, tamariki. How can I not take anything personally when it feels like these policies were made about me?"
"I am not fearful of this place, or this debating chamber."
"I was perfectly fine growing my kūmara and learning maramataka (Māori lunar calendar), but this House kept tampering with things they shouldn't be touching, and that's why I left the māra (garden) to come here."

@Rairii it's so weird watching obscenely rich people compete to do something others have already done for free with no money
@elilla Fair :)
@elilla Do you have an example? (I'm a Dutch speaker, but I have no clue what the linguistic terms mean :p)
@elilla Is this about the 'g'? 🤔
not an exact answer
@karinlag No studies to hand, unfortunately, but this matches my experience - also for computerized tasks more generally, not just research, and even including software development itself.
A related concept seems to be Conway's Law, which is almost the inverse relationship as it relates to infrastructure *development* - and taking those two together, I've ended up at "organizations reinforce their own structure externally, through the infrastructure they construct".
(I suspect that anthropology might have some useful things to say on this topic, but have not had the time to really look into it yet)
what is especially frustrating is that we literally, across languages and cultures, have this saying that the least trustworthy people are politicians
so why do people just regurgitate politicians' words like they're fact!?
the place where this becomes extra relevant is in things like press releases, where people take folks' words for things way more often since there's this inherent trust to something being said in person, which, does not actually exist
it often manifests in this sort of "clearly the (president/politician/corporate executive) wouldn't tell an obvious lie" and uh,
yes, they would actually, and rather often too
re: subtooty grumbling
Like, "is it worth the overhead to do community governance for this project" is a legitimate point of discussion, but also when that discussion *has already been had and concluded* years ago, and you don't even make an attempt to improve the governance process...

Strong views about abolishing oppression, hierarchy, agency, and self-governance - but I also trust people by default and give them room to grow, unless they give me reason not to. That all also applies to technology and how it's built.
