@goat@hellsite.site eBay or local classifieds?
The problem with books is that there are *so many of them* that if you donate them to a library or a thrift store, they are very likely to end up in the trash because they do not immediately look like something high-demand. Because they likely get far more books inbound than there is demand for them.
Of course if you can get a guarantee that they won't be trashed then it'd still be useful, but IME most places are not willing to make such guarantees for precisely this reason, and so it may be easier to give them (or sell them for a nominal fee to discourage resellers) to some place or person that you *know* has an actual interest in those specific books.
(Of course if you have a local hackerspace, computer club, etc. then they might be happy to take them on as well!)
Update arrestanten restaurantbezetting gisteren in Utrecht: allen zijn vrij!
fediblock grumping, long
*everyone sits down for story time* Come children, imagine with me a group of people who are being made to have an extra rough go at things, and against whom all forms of abuse are normalized, defended, and exacerbated both by institutions and individuals, simply because they survived unimaginable brutality in any condition at all when it was hoped they wouldn't
Imagine they make a tool to protect themselves from the bigoted nonsense that other people routinely dish out whether those other people see it as bad or not
Now imagine that people from groups who benefited from the abuse of their predecessors and continue to benefit from continued abuse of them try to intentionally interfere with that tool as a *joke*
I cordially invite everyone who's intentionally interfering with the fediblock tag to eat shit. Fucking eat shit. This has been an extremely polite under-reaction 😘
Silicon Valley is a direct pipeline to the surveillance state. Remember that Ring Cameras went from being a super-neat Amazon product to a surveillance network that can be accessed by police in real time.
Everything that can be used against us, will be used against us unless we fight and get privacy protections in place from the get-go.
@Violet Congratulations!
@researchfairy seriously the jokingly doing the exact thing the original user was complaining about was not that funny the first time anyone did it, and it has not been funny the next seven billion times.
@joepie91 this instance is not covering it's running costs http://activism.openworlds.info/ you can donate to the #OMN here https://opencollective.com/open-media-network
@rune The entire reply thread below it reads like an absolute shitshow and who's-who of "solutions" by people with zero experience in community organizing, frankly.
@bikeshed I would absolutely read and spread that! It's a very necessary analysis IMO.
@bikeshed I believe ever since most of the population started to think of COVID as a virus deadly only for disabled people in early 2022, due to state propaganda but also due to experiencing or witnessing mild enough infections from the original Omicron, the latent ableism throughout society permitted a lot of people including many anarchists to give up on COVID.
I think the lack of a militant anti-eugenics movement is a big reason why shit is bad.
@th @notjustbikes Shadow board! Wait...
Shout out to everyone else who was "just interested in being supportive of queer people", who "didn't really have a reason" but started researching neurodiversity to "understand others better", or who "just really wished people were kinder to trauma survivors" without being sure why...
For everyone who has had the moment when you realize that the unheard, marginalized voice you've been trying to amplify for so long is actually your own.
Love y'all. In case nobody else has said it yet, welcome home.
HAM radio, 🧵
Alright, so we need to talk about HAM radio.
So I'm actually a general licensed HAM, I cannot stress how wonderful and delightful of a hobby and learning experience it has been.
But, we have a serious, serious, problem with the demographics, and it's killing the art.
So let's talk about it...
@nevermind There's a weird bug I've noticed where sometimes searching for the URL to the account's page doesn't work, but posting the account identifier itself (so @user@example.com) does. Worth a try, if you haven't yet?
In the process of moving to @joepie91. This account will stay active for the foreseeable future! But please also follow the other one.

Sometimes horny on main (behind CW), very much into kink (bondage, freeuse, CNC, and other stuff), and believe it or not, very much a submissive bottom :p

Strong views about abolishing oppression, hierarchy, agency, and self-governance - but I also trust people by default and give them room to grow, unless they give me reason not to. That all also applies to technology and how it's built.
