I tried to sum this thought up a little. It might be helpful, it might not, but I humbly submit.

A lot of the time I interact with the offical Mastodon Discord and I'm just left absolutely fucking pissed or disheartened or just ... just ... ruined. Ruined by the bad takes, ruined by the refusal to consider why or how people will be impacted by things. Crushed under the weight of having someone who doesn't get it and prioritises things that only help m.s and m.o make such sweeping and offputting decisions.

Got me told off by Eugen, I want to be clear.

i like when people say 'slippery slope' as part of an argument with no real reason to accept it would go down said slope, literally naming the fallacy they are committing

You ever think about how quickly everything would collapse if we all just stopped working for a month?

That thought warms my heart.

Someone recently suggested I should look into grants for funding independent tech projects run by Black folks, but I know nothing about that world.

Well, here's the gist:

#Neurodivergent and #ActuallyAutistic folks in here ​ do not appreciate images with eye contact, and much less images of angry guys cursing at you and looking at your eyes (yes, there was a post like that in my timeline; I've also seen elsewhere images of people laughing and pointing at the camera - I was bullied in school, how do you think that makes me feel? 😢​)

Even nice people smiling at you are still disturbing for neurodivergent folks.

"But if that's so disturbing, why didn't they complain before?"

And the answer to that is, YES, THEY HAVE, and they were harassed TO HELL.

So the reason why you never heard of people complaining about eye-contact images in twitter is because, as most neurodivergent folk, we've learned that raising our voice in front of hundreds or thousands of bullies is not going to result in anything good.

So you know what happened to these neurodivergent folks who were pushed away from twitter?

We moved to somewhere else. And that somewhere else is HERE.
