"Selfhosted Infrastructure Any%" – a Co-op Cloud deployment speedrun attempt – coming up in just under 2 hours @ 20:30 (8:30pm) UTC on https://cast.coopcloud.tech
@gabek Facebook, Comcast, twitter, the list goes on lol.....
@interfluidity I am going to trick you into thinking my ui is "low quality" when its actually good. Indie devs already do this. The struggle never ends
@jonny I feel like there is a 99% chance this is fake
Just wanted to share this, these are my $15 monoprice headphones which I bought in ~2014. They have an 1/8th inch audio cable jack instead of an integrated cable. Both sides of the plastic structure have snapped and been repaired with superglue. The speaker cones inside the headphones have come loose and been repaired. The cable has been replaced.
Today I finally lay these headphones down to rest. I detached my Antlion Audio magnetic mic mount from them and re attached it to a new pair of headphones. RIP.
Computer touching, osx request
@aynish o yeah another good one: whatever menumeters got renamed to. I forget the name but there is an app that puts CPU,ram, disk, network usage in your menu bar on the top right and IMO its super useful
Computer touching, osx request
@aynish iterm2 helps, besides that I dont have much to say.
Configuring home and end keys to work as intended appears to be a never ending per-app struggle on osx. I dont have any links for that unfortunately but I was able to get it mostly working thru various stack exchange threads
I think this is in part because the success of the fediverse is unique; its kinda the only post-web-2.0, genuinely community-owned platform that exists and has mainstream-ish mindshare.
So that success excites a lot of people, everyone wants their idea to succeed in the same way. So I think when they say "fediverse" in this context, they aren't actually talking about the fediverse itself as much as they are trying to reference its success and promise.
"Fediverse" just rolls off the tongue a lot easier than "self hosted platform that allows 1 admin to easily onboard 100 users, then form a resilient and genuinely useful global network with other servers while retaining autonomy on their own server"
@genevieve I've been looking for an ISP that does not allow you to forward ports, CGNAT, etc, I havent heard of one yet in the US. I think CGNAT is more common in Europe
@genevieve actually now that I think abt it, I havent tested the porkbun support code yet 😅 it blows my mind that a simple, easy-to-set-up dynamic DNS app supporting all popular providers doesn't seem to exist yet.
@genevieve IMO just forward the desired ports on your router to your server and set up dynamic DNS.
I just helped someone else who also has Verizon home internet do this last week and it worked great.
I have an over engineered dynamic DNS app that I use, so far it supports Gandi and porkbun: https://git.sequentialread.com/forest/dns-updater
@gabek works on desktop and mobile without an install, search is great, no deliverability issues, etc
