re: rant, tech politics

@hazelnot Necrocomputing is like the evil little brother of retrocomputing; where it is no longer just about personally enjoying old or nostalgic stuff, but about actually claiming that it is superior to anything newer, that it could not possibly be improved upon, and that we should all go back to whatever the old thing is.

There's generally (at least) a significant amount of ableism and classism involved in the rationale, such as declaring modern accessibility features to be 'bloat'.

rant, tech politics

My problem with the software development community is that it's like 95% people who will do whatever a tech company with slick marketing says is right, and 5% people who rebel against the status quo but for the wrong reasons so they never get anything done.

Why is it so difficult to find people who actually approach tech intersectionally?

Hawthorne, Lewisburg, and Brick Church Long Lines tower sites from last Sunday (I also visited Shelbyville and Thach but their microwave horns seem to have been removed D:)

basically that with the standard plunger design, you need the space in the back for the fully extended plunger arm, so that's why the cheap nerf blasters use that same arm to pull back, instead of a sliding grip

heh, it's kinda neat designing this nerf blaster and realizing why they made certain design decisions in their blaster types

I've actually had this concern that one day I'm gonna move somewhere where I'm gonna need a new bed and I'm gonna need to decide what size bed to get, and fortunately I haven't had to do that, but in suppose if it ever happens I can go to the bed store and be like "give me the one that fits at least six sharks"

#Zotero is hiring for a whole bunch of positions, including an accessibility dev, a new translator dev, and community expert: zotero.org/jobs/zotero_expert
Especially the latter two positions interact w a lot of the (volunteer) work I do, so would love for nice people to apply. Salary ranges are listed & seem quite competitive. Most of the jobs are open internationally.

oooh my mini logic analyzer arrived (cheap ali saleae clone), definitely something that was missing in my kit
