Good morning sleepy heads!

We just made the first release candidate for v0.5.0 of GoToSocial 🎆

https://github.com/superseriousbusiness/gotosocial/releases/tag/v0.5.0-rc1

Docker: superseriousbusiness/gotosocial:0.5.0-rc1

This one has a bunch of fixes and new features:

API rate limiting.

Initial version of custom emoji support 🦥

Performance improvements with domain block caching.

OpenGraph meta tags when linking to your public GtS posts.

Optional custom CSS for profiles: see here and here.

And more!

If you’re a GtS instance administrator, it would be fantastic if you could try out this release candidate, and report any bugs you see with the new stuff :)

Big thank you to all contributors! <3

What is GoToSocial?

@bryn did you ever see this magnificent post about a teletubby worldbuilding dream? OP dreamt that the ones we see in the show are infants and out in the forests... live the adult teletubbies reddit.com/r/tumblr/comments/f

looking at nice things and going "huh yeah, I made that"

fun fact, you can use the settings panel with other fediverse software too! (here's my Mastodon account)

so often i'm stuck on a design decision so I look at what mastodon does and go "hmm, no, i don't like that either"

that magical moment when the "now you're thinking with portals" hits for a new programming concept

kinda need a new smartphone and the market is just so depressing.. want to run lineageos but also a modern device, and all the nice Xiaomi options are sold nowhere anymore..

ugh, Arch desktop did make itself unbootable, and can't easily fix it from a NixOS usb..

perhaps it really is time to finally replace this legacy system with NixOS as well
