@ShadowJonathan@tech.lgbt technically authorized fetch slightly increases the amount of traffic toward your instance, but it's what prevents toots getting boosted to suspended instances which often ends up with shadow-threads if they respond to it.

With 4.x Eugen very much kneecapped the API security, given that search and json representation of toots are now always available to unauthenticated users
