@noyovo@rage.love basically, hotspots that want you to pay for data tend to allow DNS lookups for any sites, but then block actually communicating with that site.
What IP over DNS does is communicate to a specialized dns server (like iodine), encoding your normal internet traffic into just dns lookups and responses. This allows for internet access that does not get filtered by the hotspot, albeit at rather low bandwidth.

@noyovo@rage.love it's a way to circumvent certain internet filters, where you can't access sites directly but you are allowed to make arbitrary DNS queries. Can be used on lots of restricted wifi hotspots so you don't have to pay

@pixouls as someone who is rather up to date with Matrix stuff, I don't think there really is currently. Better migration through portable accounts is planned but will take a lot more work still.
Why is the password an issue? It's a client login just like any other, and stays locally in your browser
