@victor@fedi.xirion.net yeah that's fair, most programming principles / way of thinking transfers pretty well anyways

but if you don't have any of that yet, you're going to have a very bad time

beginning programmers trying aoc and asking very basic questions :\

aoc is not a good learning exercise imo, it's just algorithm codegolfing

@strypey @Decentralize_today oh yeah it's for sure a pattern, don't even want to know what other (harmful) bullshit he spouts

- The sessions will be on Matrix. It works much like Discord, but is an open platform.
- The sessions themselves are about 3 hours a week, but you will likely need quite a bit more self-directed time than that *outside* of the sessions, to make real progress.

- It is an absolute *requirement* that you be motivated to learn about using JS to its strengths, even if that may differ from what you are used to in other languages. There is a lot of JS bashing on the web, but if you approach it from a POV of language hate, you will get stuck.

- Obviously, there will be no tolerance of bigotry or other hateful or disruptive behaviour. The classes are meant to be a safe and comfortable environment. That doesn't mean there's no criticism on eg. technical approach, but it must always be constructive, not adversarial.

Friend of mine will be doing free online Javascript classes on matrix. Mostly self-directed, in a classical setting, but with (more or less) 1:1 support from them whenever you get stuck. You'll be working on a project of *your* choice. The teaching is text-based, but you don't need to be good at expressing problems in text!

Marginalized folks particularly encouraged.

~3 hours a week, skipping sessions not an issue, schedule tbd with participants

oh fuck oh fuck i forgot teams takes about 5 years to start up

1hr to wake up and act like a functional person on videomeeting for good first impressions

@Decentralize_today that's a yikes from me, Bryan Lunduke is a shitty person, known amongst other things for "mozilla gives $100K to fund antifa email". Fact of the matter is the financial statement is too vague to show how linux related things like project support are, and the post tries to write off many bare minimum social activist things the Linux foundation does as bad

pretty nice to use my own fancy photos of my pcb designs as slideshow fillers

i'm using twitter for just local/country leftist political shit, and it's rather refreshing to have no tech on the TL tbh
