Know your instance admin? What is this? therapy? I don't want to get to know myself*

*This is a joke, therapy good

I feel like someone must have done this terrible #linguistics joke before, but I've never actually seen it.

reminder that Feditext already visually de-emphasizes trailing hashtags because it's getting to be more and more of a problem lately, especially with all of the crap that broadcast-only actors (news accounts, wanna-be influencers, etc.) keep putting out to make number go up.

i also started working on a way to identify things which are clearly just re-posted off-site articles, so they can be visually distinguished, muted, filtered, etc. although honestly i would love it even more if post type inference and labeling was done server-side.

@wgahnagl @ember do you have authorized fetch enabled? or i guess it could be them just replying to other posts in the chain, without seeing your original posts on their instance?

"we need a new web"

@joepie91 I just think about that line from that one Dan Olsen video, actually two lines, the one about how tech bros think they're uniquely positioned to solve the world's problems, and also the one about how the problem isn't the tech, it's patterns of human behaviour.

Yes, programmers have and will complain about the implementation of the tools, but the tools weren't the problem.
