@weirdwriter it's adding support for a few html tags the frontend previously didn't show/process at all, but most likely we'll see a markdown input option for the Mastodon compose box soonish in a separate PR, and this is just the first step towards better markdown/formatting

the federation tester thing is kinda odd in general, I made it super quickly ages ago and it's just a slightly more approachable abstraction over the json report from the api that someone else already made

the federationtester.matrix.org/ frontend is probably still the most used piece of software I've ever made, but GoToSocial actually has tons of self-hosted versions everywhere now, and it always catches me off-guard like "i made that"

re: public service announcement to people in the netherlands

@Vierkantor wee doo wee doo

@SimplyJennifer@zirk.us hm I've known they existed for a long time, but never (knowingly?) use them

@joepie91 our scouting uses the proprietary SaaS thing socie.nl/, so there's definitely a need for stuff like that

re: masto meta, trending posts

@stardust huh did that change in Mastodon 4.x? There used to be admin settings for allowing those

People love the idea that masks don't work against COVID because they'd rather live in a world where there's no way to prevent COVID than live in a world where there is a way to prevent COVID that they personally don't wanna do.

really looking forward to seeing Gyrofield live music.youtube.com/watch?v=qI-w

@whreq more just poor product photos in general, can't see the info on the lens properly, blurry, poorly cropped etc

especially when it's like, "im selling this because i bought an even more expensive lens" lol

im consistently surprised by how terrible people are at taking photos of their camera lenses for second hand listings... like... you're a photographer... this is like, your thing

I can't stop thinking about the statement "I don't dream of owning a house" when it comes to housing justice and housing futures. It's also not fair to assume that everyone's dream is to own a house. A future where everyone owns a house is completely unsustainable. I've been thinking about how to apply this rhetoric to other scenarios and what potential alternatives that center QTBIPOC voices. It has me thinking about other types of futurism where what we're told supposed to want is not what I want at all. Like, "I don't dream of AI servants".
