@landley@mstdn.jp @Are0h what? it's about taking an active approach to moderation, so if you get a report/fediblock for one instance, see which other shitty servers they're buddy-buddy with and block those too, even though you haven't received explicit reports for *their* content yet.

you don't need reports to recognize people being shitty, i hope

time and time again these marketing-brained decisions are prioritized over user privacy and safety

Informed consent? Never heard of it!

github.com/mastodon/mastodon/i

but uhh, number go up, so surely everyone wants to publicly expose more data, even with `AUTHORIZED_FETCH` and `DISALLOW_UNAUTHENTICATED_API_ACCESS`

re: masto/hometown feature reminder

@noyovo@rage.love yeah, mainline mastodon and thus glitch-soc has it too

@Are0h they just keep putting out rakes and stepping on them then somehow blaming you, revealing they stepped on their own rakes in the process :")

Idk man, sometimes I don't bother reporting accounts because I take one look at the rules on the instance and it's just barebones as fuck or I see that they federate with just the most awful people and they just decide they don't wanna block these people,,,

And I just don't bother, because it doesn't give me confidence that the user is going to get taken care of, it's better to outright nuke the entire thing instead of waiting for a mod team that will probably handwave the report.

So THATS why sometimes y'all don't receive reports from anyone. They're probably being absolutely cautious because you and your mods won't take the shit seriously.

It is what it is 🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️

I can't afford to wait for disappointment

hey thunderbird maybe right after I restart you because search just refuses to work is not the best time to ask for donations

"minimal javascript" as a marketing point is a red flag, you're prioritizing code size over functionality (and accessibility)

@ShadowJonathan@tech.lgbt huh apparently. still prefer my gitea's purple though

@maloki @welshpixie @Shrigglepuss yep definitely since the kiwifarms tool released, qoto of course and 2-3 others. and we're a tiny instance, like who cares

@Shrigglepuss In .art's experience, the only admins who reach out after we've blocked them are disingenous or doubling down on shitty behaviour. The admins who want to do better just fix their problems and address the reasons they got blocked. Qoto kinda started the trend for us of admins contacting to ask why we blocked though.

@hecate the display: inline-flex block takes priority because the selector is more specific

only when the selector specificity is the same do later rules get the priority

covid selftesting

every day I know i'm going to go somewhere i'm like "I should do a selftest" but then I remind myself it's better to do it right before I leave, instead of a few hours before

and then I'm ready to leave and I realize I still need to do a selftest >:(
(i'm still doing it tho)

"no-database" probably just means they wrote their own (way less tested, optimized, reliable) database system

databases are great
