Benefits of CWs:
-avoid things that trigger me
-mentally categorize what appears online and approach it more conscientiously
-good format for silly jokes
-think about what I'm saying and how it will affect people before I actually publish it to the internet
Drawbacks of CWs:
-literally nothing???
I know I've gotten mad about the lack of people paying attention to the murders of trans people on the Fediverse, and I'll likely do it again.
But I am also thinking about how. Eleven trans people, mostly women and femmes, and mostly Black, have died between Juneteeth and now.
And at this point if you asked me to tell you their names, I'd still have to look them up.
Because there is so much death this year.
But that doesn't mean their lives shouldn't be remembered.
FYI, if you like chocolate and don't like slavery, there are a bunch of companies committed to improving the whole industry to make it more transparent and get rid of exploitation. And I can almost guarantee the chocolate they produce will taste better too.
I just found a list and it's now on my tumblr, if you'd like to know more:
