If any Mastodon instances are having trouble with their costs growing out of control, ping me and see if I can help lower your bill.

Apparently a recently closed instance was paying $300/month for hosting which is insane to read considering how small of an instance it was. When we had 40k monthly users I was paying about $120/month so an instance with less than 400 total users (not MAU) should be super cheap to run even with a few TB of storage and bandwidth.

It hurts my heart to read instances closing down over costs and finding out they’re paying more than instances 10x their size. 😢

Do I know anyone with the interest, capacity and hardware to receive (via mail) ~20TB of videos by trans creators on LTO-6 tape and upload them to archival storage? They are believed to be at imminent risk of censorship/takedown.

They are currently within mainland USA so ideal would be mailing them to someone also in the states who could then upload them to non-US archival storage.

I'd like to leverage the ✨power of social networking✨ for my best friend and her son.

You see, until recently, the young man was thought to be not that, and I'm glad he found the insight in himself, and has the mom he has, because she's an awesome mom who wants to support him the best she can.

But, as we probably all know, being trans comes with an official shitload of things to work out, often through a byzantine labyrinth. I myself try my best to help, but being neither a mother nor a trans man, there are strict limits to the first hand knowledge and experience I have to offer. So that's what I'm asking for:

I'm looking for resources for a young, freshly starting on his path trans man, and his mother in the Netherlands. Anything how to navigate... well, anything, and probably most of all, connections to be made. Ways to meet people in person (for both) would be absolutely amazing.

If you don't know yourself, but suspect someone you know might know something, please boost.
