> The PSP's web browser is - charitably - pathetic. It is slow, frequently runs out of memory, and can only open 3 tabs at a time... But the GOV.UK pages are written in simple HTML. They are designed to be lightweight and will work even on rubbish browsers. They have to. This is for everyone...
> Are you developing public services? Or a system that people might access when they're in desperate need of help? Plain HTML works. A small bit of simple CSS will make look decent. JavaScript is probably unnecessary - but can be used to progressively enhance stuff. Add alt text to images so people paying per MB can understand what the images are for (and, you know, accessibility).
> Go sit in an uncomfortable chair, in an uncomfortable location, and stare at an uncomfortably small screen with an uncomfortably outdated web browser. How easy is it to use the websites you've created?

Meta, politics, social media: general requests
Could people please:
A) CW their posts about politics, even vague ones about the intersection of politics and social media? It would help me (and almost certainly others) engage with those posts in a way that maintains my mental health.
B) Reconsider boosting un-CWd posts about the same. Same reasons apply.
Both would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
A recent query by a well-loved personality asking how much effort it was to maintain blocklists on a single-user instance was met with several replies that boiled down to “Oh, I don’t block anybody and I’ve never had a problem.” 😬
Some of you recognized your privilege in not being a demographic targeted by hate instances; good. But none of you realized the danger you posed to that user, because you incorrectly assumed that federation blocks are transitive, and they’re not.
If she posts something, and you boost it, then you are republishing it according to your own (nonexistent) blocklists, and it can end up on a hate instance irrespective of whether the user has blocked that hate instance.
So if you admin an instance, even if you are the only one on it, you _must_ still participate in blocking hate instances, even if they don’t target you directly.
Second Edit: Okay, y'all can stop boosting this, I've had enough artists give me their info for me to look through!
Thank you all for the help and for offering your skills!
Any artists currently open for a commission?
EDIT: I'm specifically looking for a furry artist capable of drawing a full-body, flat colored piece!
Drawing all of the folds in a dress can be so frustrating - so using a reference can be a HUGE help! Dance on over to my Ko-fi page and get this pack for free! 💃💃💃 -> https://ko-fi.com/s/b2e25b82a9
