demand for small-batch yarn is facilitating a resurgence of tiny mills which often use salvaged machinery. (the industry largely collapsed in the nineties due to globalization).
i've been contemplating the potential for a parallel in chip manufacturing: if there's sufficient interest in 8 bit to merit the design and local fabrication of something 6502-like, using salvaged semiconductor equipment.
(this would of course rely on being an ideological project since there's no competing financially)

when i was in high school, we pirated television cos the cable companies didn't understand the desire for on demand viewing. Netflix came along and made it so easy we stopped pirating for a time. Wasp King: She will answer, so long as you lavish her with crystals and gorge her on queen's dinners!
Wasp King: Your Gods are no different from those of the east - plants, every one. Accept but this, and you will see how Bugaria's faith is bleeding the land dry.
Wasp King: Nor is this unknown to your masters, which prompts the question - why do they cling to these false deities? What drives even bugs of learning - even the great Neolith to grovel at their feet?
Wasp King: The answer? Your masters lack the strength to do otherwise!
