Good: I have a new old dresser!
Bad: The drawers in it are old and the wood is splitting, the rail guide on one came off completely and took some of the plyboard with it
Good: I still have drawers and roller rails from a dresser I disassembled!
Bad: I'd have to do a lot of trimming and refitting to get them on the current dresser
Worse: I'm not a carpenter
Even Worse: despite that I still have a saw and sawhorse

This can only go well

re: Twitter/X

@jsstaedtler as one of the old guard who believed it was never good, am I allowed to deadname it as Twitter as a testament to the damage caused by its mismanagement?

Bugs

@curls my love is for moths and bees, any other bug is not considered a guest and will be dealt with based on whether they're intent to occupy my space

@Aether For some reason I just imagine Aether as a dragon-shaped window into the cosmos, posited over a resplendent nebula

FNAF nuclear take and I am not sorry :dont_at_me:

I will block people supporting FNAF without a second thought, same as those who support Harry Potter.

Supporting the series after Cawthon's campaign donations came to light, while knowing that he still gets money from the series and still contributes to those campaigns after he left production, is entirely the same as supporting Harry Potter after JK Rowling's went public with her transmisogny, racism, and antisemitism.

Doesn't matter how you feel about it, or how you're "reclaiming" it, you are still supporting their causes, including the ones that harm yourselves.

re: -

@deejvalen Don't let those intrusive thoughts mislead you, I sure as heck would miss you :<

@Nifflas@mastodon.gamedev.place My friend, they would make whole speedrun categories around it

@scopelmatt Darnit Godot 4 D: That is a shame then, I'll have to poke around in it some more to see what can be done to reimplement those features, particularly to keep the subviewport from disrupting editor operations

@mos_8502 Here's hoping it works for you then! My VM can at least use a block device if I can't pass the NVMe through directly

@mos_8502 Presently an old i7-4790k running Linux off a mix of silicon and spinning rust over SATA, maxed out on RAM, but running a Windows VM using TianoCore's OVMF and a GTX1070 passthrough. Memory bottlenecking is an issue especially with the IGP, so I hope to change that

Fortunately a A friend of mine was offering to ship me his old Ryzen board, which might let me actually use two graphics cards on separate IOMMU blocks, and in the meantime I ended up with some decommissioned Lenovo workstations with beefy procs, 1TB NVMes and a Quadro from this year, so I have options to say the least

@mos_8502 This is exciting news in my hopes to upgrade my old computer and VM o:

@scopelmatt thinking about it, while the major version difference may limit the ability to exchange notes, I should keep a sharp eye out for this too, and see about implementing that integer scaling handler myself

Yes, it's a great time to get coderbrain while I'm waiting for the bus and without my notebook

@scopelmatt oh, huh, I know Godot 3 at least has a variety of options scattered about to avoid subpixel rendering issues, but they are unfortunately not in one cohesive space, yeah. Integer scaling is a problem as well, though I can think of ways to have a script handle it at a window level

I hear great things about Godot 4's tilemapping! I just wish I could use them but I'm targeting GLES2 so I'm stuck on 3 and I haven't heard of anyone backporting it just yet :'D

@scopelmatt Off the cuff, the subviewport issue is likely due to the way mouse input is captured, a technical issue that I think warrants investigating as a bug

Have you posted about your issues with Godot's workflow in the past? I'm working on my own 2D pixel games too so I'd like to hear more about what you're fighting against if it's alright

@Nifflas@mastodon.gamedev.place Too bad this isn't multiple-choice, solarpunk heists would be sick
