Animal of the day (046)

The Black-waved Flannel Moth looks illegally soft and should seriously be made into a plushy. It is found along the east coast of the United States, and as far inland as Oklahoma. Reaching only 25–40 mm in wingspan, the adults are on the wing from May to October. There is only one generation per year in the north, but two or more in the south. The caterpillars feed on various trees and shrubs, and produce a venom delivered through hollow urticating hairs that can penetrate the skin and send even a healthy human to the hospital.

@NanoRaptor In all seriousness, can we get a shoutout for repairability?

What's green, goes in a pipe, works best when set aflame, and brings joy to people around the world?

@monsterblue Bonus: Luigi doesn't give me a migraine to be around

the worst part about dating a gorgon is that she makes me kiss every one of her snakes on the forehead every night :/ it takes 30 minutes

@lyncia ai yi yi I'm your killer butterfly, E.V.A.C makes your doom up in the sky

@mos_8502 a bunch of people are talking about going over there now that registrations are open, so I felt the need to remind them that it's nobody's friend

#BlueSky is cosplaying decentralization
rys.io/en/167.html

> BlueSky’s decentralization is a similar kind as with cryptocurrencies: sure, you can run your own node, but that does not give you basically any meaningful agency in the system.

> “Neutrality” and “speech” and “voice” and “protection from bans” is mentioned right there, front and center, in BlueSky’s overview and FAQ. At the same time moderation and anti-harassment features are, at best, an afterthought.

so the state of #Indiana launched a form where people can report schools for teaching about subject such as #LGBTQ issues or #BlackHistory.
it sure would be a shame if people flooded this form to the point it becomes useless.
