I keep seeing that “first they came for the journalists” sign, and it pisses me off so much, because when they came for muslims, immigrants, and trans people, mainstream journalists normalized it and reported it as “both sides”. Cops; state overreach.
This situation around the Atlanta Forest defenders is pretty ugly. If you haven't seen, go chase down some authoritative sources, but the short version is that a group of people who have been trying to prevent a forest from being bulldozed and replaced with a "cop city" training ground have been arrested, and are being charged with domestic terrorism.
The chargeis ludicrous, but it could stick.
This is real bad.
Journalists, activists, and organizers, please don't sleep on this. Let's make this state overreach a national story. Let's make it a problem. Let's pin down every politician from GA on a position, and find out if any of them have a fucking spine.
