Now imagine if Mastodon didn’t exist and this was happening.…
Aren’t we lucky that some guy in Germany decided to spend his own time, money, and effort to build it?
Hopefully we’ll get lucky again…
Or, you know, maybe we can finally consider supporting tech that’s in the common good from the common purse. And fund organisations and long-term development, not just ad-hoc academic “projects” that get abandoned the moment the money is gone.

Is there anyone from the #SanFrancisco #SlowStreet movement on here to talk to? I'm very interested to learn more.
Telraam data has been cited a lot recently and am keen to understand the context.
(would appreciate boosts for reach all the way to the Pacific)
@fack I've been wanting to go to Detroit for a couple of years.
Is this every May? It looks rad.
I went to my social club this morning for an event, and when I got there, this white dude was already opening the door, so I figured I would walk in after him. I know he saw me, but he basically just let the door close, so I had to catch it.
When I get in there, he stops and says, "Hey can you sign in?" Not hello. Not good morning. Not how long have you been a member here? He just assumed I *wasn't* and acted on that premise.
I kind of just gave him a stern look and kept walking, and he looked stunned. I half expected him to snitch to the owner, but he saw me start talking to other members and got embarrassed.
People always wonder why I'm so adamant about dealing with racism and hate, and it's because white people do not take breaks from their aggression. The way they just assume we don't belong in specific spaces is a constant microaggression we have to deal with.
And to keep it real, today's experience reminded me a lot of how the fedi has been since the big migration.
We all need to choose what kind of environment we want to be a part of and the kind of communities we want to build.
Someone I know is looking for housing in San Antonio, Texas. They are a queer person who creates multimedia art pieces. They're concerned about finding a safe place to live where they can continue their work.
Does anyone know where I can start looking for roommates for them?

@pandemoniumcrutch wow, this sounds amazing. I've never seen PT treatment transition like that. I have hypermobility issues with partial patellar subluxation.
Do you have any advice for finding a PT who is willing and qualified to treat via any strategies other than strengthening?
"Out of 100 avatars I generated, 16 were topless, and in another 14 it had put me in extremely skimpy clothes... I have Asian heritage...My white female colleague got significantly fewer sexualized images. Another colleague with Chinese heritage got results similar to mine."
Incredibly important story from Melissa Heikkilä about how the viral AI avatar app Lensa repeatedly undressed her without her consent, and its grotesque fetish for Asian women.
@fack I know this vibe well. I try to throw a dinner party every time I make soup.
Question for transmascs re: pre-transition flirting 2 (answer from an enby)
@shardsofblue yeah, afab enby here and it totally seems transphobic-by-ignorance to me. It's very silly to assume a trans person's egg-situation "gender experiences" are ever predictable, relevant, or helpful.
I suggest looking up non-toxic masculine dating advice videos. You know, for dudes. Although he did fuck up while GMing a tabletop role playing game, a male friend of mine found Adam Koebel's YouTube videos helpful. He's a queer dude and you might vibe with his approach. Unfortunately, I'm not seeing a video to recommend, so this might not be all that helpful after all.
My friend was having issues with being afraid of being a creep (to the point at which he struggled to do things like order coffee from a girl or compliment her shirt) and he said Adam's office hours and relational videos were helpful. He didn't immediately turn into some jerk, so they seemed good to me.
Regardless, best of luck. I hope things get comfier. :)

@werefox hi! Wanna get coffee sometime?
Reminder that I collect weird, whacky, and bizarre form fields related to gender collection at https://genders.wtf and would welcome people submitting more
@PetraPhoenix @3goodthings you could use in-bie as a terrible pun. Like enby crossed with in-law.
I'm not aware of a more tidy term, though.
Sad tacos
@kf my girlfriend and I ran across a place like this in a suburb of Minneapolis.
The food looked great-- rich, deep red sauce, green guacamole, whatever, right? But it was so bland that we were convinced they used only paprika in everything. We were so, so sad about it.
It all looked so good! But it just tasted like *nothing*.
My condolences.

@wgahnagl this is amazing and I would like to make one for myself. I've made cloaks before, but never ones with heating coils!
Did you use anything for a reference for your heaters?
Seating access, car mention
@t54r4n1 imagine how cool a little bench mobile would be.
Like a little scooter or something, but it's just a bench that you can chill on. Idk. I think I just want this imaginary benchmobile to be my friend. Maybe it's a bicycle that folds in some way into a bench for pals? Maybe it's more like a roomba? I dunno!
I agree that the lack of public seating is nefarious and toxic. But I would totally love to see silly accessible bench friends around to help combat this aggressive, damaging miserliness. An old car costs a thousand bucks (for a bad one) and is pretty good to sit on top of. Thirty grand is a number someone made up because they don't want them to happen.

@wgahnagl this sounds incredible. Can I learn more?
Work, Apartment, Positive, some unsolicited advice
@MerlinJStar@weirder.earth I can super relate to "kinda dumb but mostly cheerful" brain state.
If I can, I just don't push through tough brain days. I do easier stuff and take more breaks, instead. Sometimes, if I have energy for the harder stuff near the end of my work time, I do it then. If my world is making working hard, I like figuring out what my actual time tables for finishing stuff are, and being extra gentle on myself when I can. Stressing about not working wears me down a lot, so I try to avoid it.
If it's feasible for you, you might like to go for a chill little adventure for an hour or two while the noises happen, and work for a bit when ya get back instead. You might have more energy than if you'd tried to push through the disruption.
I don't mean to tell ya how to live your life, though. I definitely relate to your situation... 😅
