@elilla And also to redouble (triple quadruple) our efforts to reimagine the space of linux operating systems with accessibility on the forefront of what an OS is supposed to do. Because it is appalling that we still haven't gotten proper screen reader and other accessibility support down to a T. It is unimaginably cruel to leave disabled people to use invasive and awful software because we don't care enough to care for them.
my i7 is such a good computer rock it does gamecube so fabulously and ps2 is pretty good too!
pcsx2 did do this for a bit but it mustve been shader stuff cause it stopped after a while of playing (spyhunter 2)
might have to jump over to the ps2 version of Spyhunter
what ive tried:
reboot computer
yell at discord's horrible video capture that tends to cause microstutters (it actually wasnt its fault this time
switch from opengl to vulkan
turn on hybrid ubershaders (that just destroyed my framerate in a normal way)
demand all shaders be compiled before loading the game (both in conjunction with hybrid and not in conjunction with hybrid)
if anyone knows why Dolphin (emulator) randomly decides to tank the framerate for like 5 seconds at a time please let me know its frustrating for trying to speedrun and lab Spyhunter on gamecube
like ive been having an uptick in weird fuckin glitches and errors that wasnt there before
am i the only one who thinks once vibe coding became a thing, everything became immensely more unstable

there will be a lot of people from the Third World and from non-tech professions who will be forced to turn to Linux for sheer lack of options. there already was an upsurge with Windows 11 refusing to run on older computers and it will get worse. the Linux community is *not* up to the task of welcoming non-tech people and helping them figure out stuff. if we don't want ChatGPT to be the default Linux teacher, it is up to us Linux users on the margins of mainstream tech culture to be friendly to new users, and help them with this OS's gratuitous, excessive complexity to do things that are not programming computers.
*edit*: Microsoft is denying rumours of Windows 12 being AI-focused or coming out soon

they are currently in damage control mode over Win 11 but the damage control mode is about "reducing AI bloat", which shows even when trying to do PR they're out of touch with why people are angry with Win 11 ("reducing AI bloat" is like a paint manufacturer saying "we're making the lead paint easier to swallow"). given that Win 11 continues to only work with whitelisted CPUs, Secure Boot, a TPM 2.0 chip etc. and MS shows no sign of going back on *that*, the overall point still applies, but for Windows 11; we don't know yet how bad its successor will be, or when will it be out.
