like I feel this disconnect where I just cant play all the big games everyone else plays because I literally cant afford to until years and years later so ive just stopped bothering.

on top of other issues only I seem to have i guess? like getting indie shmups to run on linux is a coin toss a good amount of the time outside of the steam deck (or even maybe on there who knows)

i dont know if i just get irritated more often or if its just that I have a dinky puter compared to some of yall

ive never had actually good gpu

i bet if my computer wasnt old enough that theres no vulkan support proton would work so much better

ive never seen a game overlay side info gadgets over the playfield with no option to disable them I love computers why does this regularly happen to me

soemtimes its funny when a modern indie shmup expects a monitor that isnt a square and has to scronch. some handle this gracefully

and then some do what Dead In Vitro does

@theking im sorry but im generally unwilling to pursue this any further at the moment, it just ends up frustrating me in the end and I try to avoid spending entire days on stuff like this

@theking I have my own gripes with how Gnome does some things but it does do some things well as an environment. just not the type of environment i enjoy using

and im afraid to ask because I feel like ill get bonked for "not googling" or "not knowing this obvious solution"

ive scoured wikis and old forum posts and absolutely fucking nothing has worked

like I use that touchscreen when I cant use a mouse. its not something I want to just give up on.

like linux supports a lot of peripherals but theres certain catagories of devices that are just completely ignored it seems

i can talk about how I've wasted almost an entire 24-48 hours combined of my life maybe more trying to get the fucking resistive touchscreen calibrated correctly on my toughbook, only to have basically no gestures and barebones mouse click actions with it

and its still not calibrated correctly and I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY

like I have half formed thoughts on Wayland and X11 and some thoughts on just the general experience of trying to use wine and proton on older hardware, to the complete disaster that is touchscreen support, etc.

I remember when you could run ubuntu install while inside windows xp
