Folks going to #WHY2025, if you have #floppy disks lying around (especially those that might have data), please bring them to me on site - I am at FoodHackingBase!

I am working on RecoveryWhiskers, my new data recovery program for floppy disk and always want more old media to backup.

Edit: Bring me any kind of floppy - I only have 3.5 and 5 1/4 drives at the moment. Bring me more obscure formats and drives if you have one lying around

vague, software

If you don't do the work upfront of making sure your software won't cause problems for others, then don't whine when you're suddenly expected to do a lot of work under pressure to fix it afterwards while people complain at you, you don't get to complain about that

(the lead singer is an actual PhD scientist who wrote papers on the exact device that the recent miracle vaccine people are talking about uses. When he goes "GOTTA KEEP EM SEPERATED" in the one song it is, no joke, because he was thinking about molecular biology and separating chemicals)

I love when statements are just true enough that you can say them and make people double take at you. Like saying "yeah you know the band The Offspring? Yeah they just cured aids"

it's just true enough that it's funny

Edit: Holy cow smokes this did way more numbers then I expected haha. Thanks for everyone who boosted. :neodog_heart:
A friend of mine knew someone and for now I have a room and now there a very friendly person that helps me and he is asking around for a room in a squat or something similar. So it is not super urgend anymore, but we are still om the lookout since I can only stay here for a couple of days.
Also we went to the doctors and it isnt that bad, just need to rest for a week and it should be okay and I think I can continue my trip within like 2 weeks maybe!

Okay longshot but here we go, Fedi please boost this through the roof:

Anyone on here living in lisbon amd willing to help me out for a couple of days?

I am on a hitchhiking trip, rolled my ankle and need a place to stay for a couple of days to see if it gets better because currently I definitily shouldn't walk. Even less so with 14Kg on my back haha.
So if you live here or know a person or something like that who would offer me shelter for a coupke of days that would be amazing!

Recomendations for cheap camping grounds or squats in or direclty around the area are welcome aswell <3

Thanks!

Frontend devs. Sweeties. Let's talk.

Do you remember the Web in the 90s? I do. My computer today has more RAM than my computer in the 90s had hard disk. My cable modem today can download that amount of data several times over every second.

The web today feels as slow today as it did in the 90s. On a 56k modem.

It's not your fault. I get it. Business demands, shifting frameworks. But engineer to engineer here, I'm really gonna need you to start telling them no. It's getting embarrassing.

honestly more medications that work fast should be available to just fucking trial. i hear trans people be like "everything in my brain calmed down and got correct as soon as i took my first hrt". same with adderall. why the fuck is it easier to get cigarettes

self-talk, suggestions welcome

Something I'd really like to work on this next year of my life is to not say/think "stupid" or "dumb" or "idiot" to myself when I make small mistakes. It's frequent and automatic, and I know it's unhealthy.

I think having a replacement response would help. Maybe "oops"? Anyone else managed to break this habit?

I hate it when I see something and it gives me an idea to look up something, but then I forget what I was going to look up and I can't find the thing that gave me the idea anymore.

I'm building something which could uncharitably be described as "an open proxy providing attack amplification as a service", but which I'd rather describe as "a core part of tools like RSS feed readers": ask it to monitor a URL, and it'll check periodically to see if it has changed and tell you so. I'd like to make it a publicly available service so people can more easily build new tools for noticing when web pages change. What are some ways I can encourage good applications and discourage abuse?

fun fact you can just be trans. like just do it. try it. woke up feeling kinda girl today? yeah try it out who cares. more boy another day? cool do that too. nobody can stop you
