This is a perspective I've often found missing in the concerns about the effect of LLMs on education, the motivation aspect. It's much like the concerns about cheating and plagiarism (and I do group LLMs in that category)--punishing and concern-trolling the "problem students/people" who take shortcuts is just a way to individualize systemic problems. If the system did not come built in with incentives to use LLMs its use would not be so rampant. The pressure to use LLMs is simply the inevitable fruit of a system that worships productivity and conformity, and it's fruitless to moralize its use without looking at the root causes.
I think mastodon and gotosocial should have an optional pronoun badge that appears alongside your handle or username, so that people don't have to go to your profile to get that info. Knowing someone's pronouns makes interactions go a lot easier.
Does anyone who uses a screen reader think this would be taxing in any way? Would it make sense to also have a flag in the preferences settings to turn off this feature for screen readers?
new autism support service: update
I can contact them by email or text (she didn't even SUGGEST phone!) and she didn't try to rope me into their other groups and services even though I know they have them.
Overall, I feel very good about it. Only thing is, she DID misgender me, which the other service was much better about. But I don't know if that reflects on the service as a whole or just this much older lady who helped me.
new autism support service: update
Had my appointment yesterday! I am still utterly exhausted.
It went really well. The support worker was knowledgeable, sympathetic, and the entire conversation was led entirely by my needs. The service is very hands-off and rely on me to contact them when I feel comfortable, rather than locking me into fixed appointments.
Hello... I've only & 🦋 accounts...

Apparently a Valve employee who works on the amdgpu project is going to implement support for older AMD cards, including analog ports.
In unrelated news, Valve has expressed an interest in making SteamOS run on non-Valve systems.
In unrelated news, Windows 10 is going EOL very soon.
... is Valve planning what I think they're planning?
It's probably a first world problem, but I absolutely hate looking for instructions on how to do something and only finding ones on videos rather than a written version. The reasons:
1. I have to stop listening to music
2. I have to rewatch it several times to understand the instruction, my brain doesn't do auditory data input much
3. It ends up taking much more time than it would have if I was to read one or two sentences, because the video often has an intro, "please like my video", "click to subscribe" and whatnot, and these take twice more time than explaining how to do that one thing I'm looking for. It's infuriating and will definitely not make me like the video and subscribe.
4. Some people just have annoying voices, not their fault, but it happens often.
Having said all that I'm actually grateful that there are instructions for things online and that people care to make them.
I really need people to stop labeling every "thing that makes me feel different from other people" as "neurotypical" behavior. I saw someone describe a well-documented-as-ADHD trait as "neurotypical" just bc it's a trait they don't have and their own neurodivergence works the opposite way.
I've seen multiple conflicts where neurodivergent ppl try to paint their also-neurodivergent opponents as neurotypical. People are neurodivergent in DIFFERENT ways and some of those clash!
In the process of moving to @joepie91. This account will stay active for the foreseeable future! But please also follow the other one.

Strong views about abolishing oppression, hierarchy, agency, and self-governance - but I also trust people by default and give them room to grow, unless they give me reason not to. That all also applies to technology and how it's built.
