Demonstranten voor vrijheid hardhandig arresteren op je "dit nooit meer" Bevrijdingsdag terwijl je een fascistische politicus een Dodenherdenking-toespraak laat doen is wel heel erg on the nose, hoor.

@daedalus
"We are currently experiencing high call volumes like we do every moment our lines are available, but we refuse to employ more staff as this would cut into the profits"

"Your call is so important to us, we have fired all the humans and replaced them with a terrible automated system that cannot understand you.

Please hold while we pay our executives another bonus for some reason.

Did you know you can use the Internet to discover our website can't answer your question?"

One of the very odd things about living with a disability or chronic conditions is that the reaction one gets to even just /sharing stories/ even if they’re not heavy or littered with ableism is shock.
Not out of any ill intent, but because our stories are not known.

And like, this is not some obscure change. This is happening *all over the place*. If you are in the EU, and you have eg. some cosmetics or soap for which you have both a recently purchased bottle and also one that's a few years old... compare them.

Chances are you're going to find one of them being LDPE or HDPE, and the other being PET. Regardless of what brand or store it came from. Regardless of price point.

Similar deal with LDPE/HDPE getting swapped over to PP for foil packaging (laundry powder bags, wet wipe packs, that sort of stuff). If you've noticed the plastic getting a bit more 'crispy' and a bit less flexible at some point, this is why.

Can anyone recommend a permanent marker that works on the waxy paper of a sticker album? I've heard Edding 780 might be a good choice, but I don't know

Manufacturers have long claimed that it's not really possible to make packaging out of recycled plastic, because the plastic quality degrades with every recycling step.

Now the EU is starting to require many types of plastic packaging to contain at least 30% recycled plastic, and what do you know, suddenly manufacturers are all switching their plastic choices from eg. LDPE to PET, because PET is more recyclable. In some cases with 100% recycled plastic.

Turns out it was possible all along.

Claims that a team generates 40% of their code "at lightning speed" are, again, never backed up by any verifiable evidence.

And do they specify, test, review and merge that code "at lightning speed"? The quickest way down to the ground floor is to jump out of the window.

@joepie91 I'm not sure anyone has mismanaged that much free money so hard before. They literally wouldn't exist if Google didn't need cover from anti trust lawsuits

If you remember my toot from a while ago, encouraging people to go and support Servo by contributing to it...

Well, this is why I posted that.

So Mozilla just outright admits now that they cannot exist without Google's search deal money: theverge.com/news/660548/firef

So exactly how is Mozilla 'competing' with Google again?

"I prefer white supremacy to racism precisely because it says that we're all being socialized to think along certain dualistic lines, and that the notion of that which is light or white being better, that which is dark or Black being worse, bad, inferior is something that everyone in the culture is socialized to think."

People obsess about making sure that trains are full. Talk about moving warm air around during quieter periods of the day. Yet noone seems to point out the main competitor to rail travel involves traveling with a pair of arm chairs and a sofa, with a total number of passengers of 1. The inefficiencies of private cars are ridiculous.

As long as the whole train network, across the whole year and all services is >20% occupancy, it's more efficient than the competition.

Unbelievably hot political take, extremely extreme extremism

The world in which people have to be profitable to earn to live is inherently evil.

People who make it this way have names and addresses and it is our moral duty to fix that so they would no longer have them.
