"Vibe coding is all AI coding" feels true to most. Not caring what happens after code is pushed to the final victim is already the norm. The only change from adopting "AI" is they now have the freedom to no longer care about what happens BEFORE as well.

Code that does the job the end user wants it to do is already the exception and software is a product managed based on vibes throughout. Anybody who goes all huffy because the field OVERWHELMINGLY responds to "vibe coding is using AI to create code that you don't care about" with "ah, so all coding, gotcha!" has not been paying attention

Laughing at "AI" boosters worrying "vibe coding" is becoming synonymous with "AI coding". Tech is vibes througout. Vibe management. Vibe strategy. Vibe design. Coding has been a garbage fire for decades and, yeah it's a vibe-based pop culture from top to bottom and has only been getting worse

It sure is interesting how Tauri doesn't get shit on anywhere near as much as Electron, even though there is very little technical difference between the two, and the 'arguments' against Electron are supposedly of a technical nature

Het reliëfkaartje van Twente is ook fascinerend, ik wist niet dat Glanerbrug en Losser met een heuvelrug van de rest van Nederland zijn afgescheiden.

I'm generally fascinated by this thing where people try to undo a fuckup by just reverting to the old situation and then expect 'business as usual', clearly not understanding that trust is a thing you build up on a social level, and not some deterministic outcome of a set of policies

Evening all.

I've just accidentally dropped a cup of seeds on the lawn and our local wood pigeons have possibly started worshiping me as a god, so that's nice.

Also got a snap of the robin posing, and am enjoying the WTF vibes I'm getting from the sheep.

"People are going to have relationships with AI. How do we make sure these are healthy relationships?" You don't. Those relationships can't be healthy because they're premised on lies.

The single most effective thing AI companies could do to encourage healthy relationships with AI would be to stop presenting them as people, but they won't because doing so would make them less marketable.

fascism, transphobia, science

if i was in biology i would be constantly pretty pissed off that fascists have turned my entire field into a catchphrase expositing bigotry with less actual knowledge of my field than you'd get in a single second grade science lesson

there are a whole lot of things which would be better if there were just fewer people using them as a cudgel to beat down those they consider their inferiors.

this thought brought to you by every field-specific jargon vocabulary coined and every subject taught at any university.

Dear cis-het people.

When a member of the LGBTQ+ says something to you about how recent events are making things difficult or scary don't then explain things to that person as if you are the authority on it. Especially when your understanding of the topic is very limited and just wrong.

Yes even if you mean well.

The correct response should be

"How can I help?"

Or if you can't/ don't want to help

"I'm sorry you're going through that."

People from an oppressed group aren’t a monolith, they WILL have diversity of opinion among many other things.

Something I had to unlearn myself is picking members of that group you who aligns the most with a position that’s the most comfortable to you and treating it as the general opinion from that group and dismissing all the others.

Concrete example "Blackface is okay because [this Black person] said it was, you don’t want to contradict a Black person do you?"
