I can finally reveal some research I've been involved with over the past year or so.

We (@redford, @mrtick and I) have reverse engineered the PLC code of NEWAG Impuls EMUs. These trains were locking up for arbitrary reasons after being serviced at third-party workshops. The manufacturer argued that this was because of malpractice by these workshops, and that they should be serviced by them instead of third parties.

if we can't preserve the history of our queer activists, writers, artists, scientists, musicians, inventors, sportspeople, intelligentsia, journalists, philosophers, and many others — who are the queer people of the future going to look at as an example? we can't grind each other into dust like that, heterosexist hegemony is already doing it. this is more important than any money or fame or clicks or internet clout.

history and culture is written by the winners, and often the winners are privileged people with money and power and fame. if we have to fight our erasure, if we are to ever win the fight against capitalism and sexism and queerphobia and other forms of oppression, we need to keep our collective memory. our culture. we have to stick together. otherwise, we will be preyed on one by one. we only have each other. how else can we survive?

and like, it's not like i fucking care about copyright. i don't give a single pissed finger about copyright. it's a tool of capital. but i care about history and i care about people. do you know how many inventions were wrongly attributed to white cishet men, stolen from bipoc and queer people and women? and later people say we never were remarkable, we never existed, we are untermensch.

it's a direct spit in the face of me and other future young queer creators who are afraid of being erased too. it's like he is saying "see what i did? i can just steal your shit and claim it as mine. no matter how much you worked. no matter how much you love your craft or fought for your rights. no matter how much you sacrificed. i will leave you in dust while you will perish. leave. no one needs you." this is the message i get.

and to see james do the same thing to other creators, who fallen victims to the AIDS epidemic that shattered the queer community, that left so many people in misery...is disgusting. it's a direct spit not only in the face of the people who had their work stolen by james, but queer community at large. the fact that i exist right now, that you read my posts right now, is in spite of all of that. in spite of all of the erasure. of all the hate and abuse. and i am incredibly lucky to have people who support me. there are teens my age *who never made it*. and their memory was desecrated by their parents, their peers, their family, their society. their names disregarded, their identities misgendered. stripped off the last dignity they could've had

every day i exist in a country which gov wants people like me dead, among people who think i am some kind of terrorist or an "agent of western world that wants to destroy us". or that i am out to get someone's kids because i am transgender. or that i am a "son who lost his way and needs god and punishment in his life". among people who don't care to stand up for my rights, because they think they're not necessary or "distract from class war"

you see, i am a queer film student myself. just like james. i am currently my second year into my studies, and i want to create art and videos on youtube and movies and tv series and videogames. and i feel so afraid because i am so unprivileged that i feel like i might be erased without a trace if i ever catch someone's eye. and james' success gave me some kind of hope.

i think what the entire somerton situation taught me is to not to make any idols or idealized role models out of people. you see, i used to be a huge fan of james. i saw him as a part of some kind of modern day queer and leftist intelligentsia. i treated his videos like lectures. i even donated to him. and hbomberguy's video just...left no room for any doubt that he was a scammer and a liar.

"Drop" is probably the most useful concept that I don't think is widely understood outside the kink community but applies to SO MUCH STUFF in everyday life.

Drop is the shitty feeling you get after an intense experience (including an intense positive experience). It's sometimes immediate, but sometimes the day after or some other time. "Post-con depression" is a form of drop. In the kink community, we try really hard to stop drop from happening with aftercare, but outside of the scene you don't often get the chance to build in aftercare to intense experiences.

Different people find different things helpful for dealing with it. Rest is generally good, as is doing things you like, sugary foods, and recognising that you are in drop and not putting too much pressure on yourself.

allowing yourself to do what you need to get through drop is crucial (imo) to allowing positive experiences to stay positive, and to deal with the emotional effects of negative ones.

When people say "we need laws" what they usually mean is "we need enforcement".
Most of the stuff we don't like is already illegal. Those laws just aren't enforced.

We can just strap little filters to our faces and not get shitty sicknesses anymore, that is so cool!!

No, it is not possible for me to come, because the orga has chosen not to implement any COVID safety precautions, forcing me to choose between "keeping my kidneys working" and "attending a hacker event".
