My hat goes off to those Swedish dockworkers refusing to unload Teslas until they negotiate with their local employees.

Incredible solidarity.

(For some reason it’s always my untagged posts that go wide lmao, so here a link: wired.com/story/tesla-sweden-s )

Even moreso when that criticism isn't even aimed at them, but they interpret it as if it were, because they identify with some characteristic described there.

frustration

So many people who respond to direct criticism by treating it as a personal attack... please learn to deal with criticism in a healthy way!

Happening now: People are occupying a boat in the port of Oakland to prevent it taking weapons to Israel. They’re asking for help if you can get out there! This looks to be the specific terminal: maps.app.goo.gl/prXSdubSx1GJoX

Cannot overstate the value of regularly delivering working software.

My single most effective software dev habit is to start with a walking skeleton -- a "real" if very stubbed out program that can be deployed on its real infrastructure, receive real calls, visited for real etc. -- because of what this does for non-programming stakeholders.

When they see a real working thing and then they see that thing get meaningful improvements they tend to chill *way* out and get much easier to work with.

@heatherhorns_lite very reminded of how "Stockholm Syndrome" was basically made up by some police psychologist mad that hostages actually had more empathy for their hostage takers than him

final paragraph of a vox article really captures what it feels like to be a US citizen

purely by happenstance I ran across this german trucking telemetry company whose mascot is a fox doing a full-size screm.

he, het Warenwetbesluit Meel en Brood is geupdate, tegenwoordig is bruinbrood als ingekleurd witbrood niet meer toegestaan. Maar bruin != volkoren geldt nog wel.

positively surprised by PeerTube. I remember the HTML5 video player as being way worse compared to YouTube with regards to buffering, but this works just *great* (and I'm using a crappy DSL connection)

What a painful article to read my god.

"Shults & Lane...were on the ground as part of a contract they signed with the UN in August to develop a first-of-its-kind AI model that they hope will help analyze solutions to the Israel-Palestinian conflict."

"The digital twin Lane is speaking of is CulturePulse’s multi-agent AI model that they are currently building for the UN."

The UN needs a spine not a "multi-agent AI model."

ayy does anybody know good recipes of stuff with tofu? preferably vegan, thank you :3

happy side effect: if you approach it this way then its not really about finishing. finishing is hard. you imagine all the stuff you still gotta do before you're finished and it feels impossible

meanwhile it feels way more achievable to just sit down and start working on one task however small. but doing that consistently is what finishing looks like

the secret to creating anything is to sit down and start. then, after you do that, keep doing that. every day you sit down and start working on your thing is one day you're closer to finishing the thing

PSA: Apparently the showrunner is planning on renaming Series 14 to Season 1, and restart the numbering. Yes, for real.

If you use anything that consumes an episode database, expect it to break in unpredictable ways...
