Folks in #Hamburg: even if you don't plan on going to #37C3 this December and are not involved in its organization, perhaps you could help make the event a little safer for vulnerable folks?
All that's needed is for people to hand out masks outside of the venue: https://social.pixie.town/@joepie91/111177036963676873
Please let me know if you'd like to help out on this - I probably can't be in Hamburg myself, but I'd be happy to contribute what I can from here to make this happen.
Remember #Patreon set up new on-by-default sharing of your account information with every other Patreon user (and maybe the world)? Remember people posting how to turn it off, because they were using confusing language/dark patterns to try to #trick you into oversharing?
I got the "welcome to the new Patreon" today, and ... they've turned the "Community Profile" setting back on after I deliberately turned it off.
Go check your settings, and opt out -- again.
@njion 'common sense' is another way of saying 'ignorant assumption'
Well then. Looks like I don't get to go to #37c3 this year, if I don't want to lose my last remaining kidney function 😐
No COVID19 measures whatsoever, jesus christ...
Anyone have any recommendations for well-designed (ie. not random distribution) large #OpenTTD scenarios that use FIRS or a fork of it?
"you have to use an app for this government online service" oh crap, here we go again, you're just gonna show me Google and Apple appstores, right?
website uhh, nope, you can download APKs, debs, you could pull it off flathub if you wanted, also here's the GitHub repo, and because we're extra fancy we already put the thing in your portage tree, just emerge it.
Wait what? WHAT? This government does things properly? What the actual fuck?
stop disrupting adfraud operations
the adtech industry was never supposed to survive
years of programmatic auctions yet no real world use found for virtualising obfuscators IN JAVASCRIPT
wanted to watch numbers go up anyway for a laugh? we had a tool for that: it was called access logs
all the biggest adtech companies themselves do ad fraud, so you can't stop it, why bother taking down the obvious chinese botnets?
finally after like a year or so of flirting I have a project where it makes sense to start playing with #rust. Send me ur favorite crates for reading from USB and from webcams and whatnot ❤️
It bears mentioning that Songtradr is a music licensing and digital rights management company. So the first thing users can expect to go out the window are DRM-free downloads, signaling a push towards platform lock-in.
They’ll probably keep #BandcampFriday for a time, but slightly increase their cut off the top the rest of the time, framing it as a compromise. That cut will continue to increase in a frog-boiling way. Eventually, downloads will only be available at a premium, requiring DRM and their proprietary player. They’ll pivot to being a Spotify competitor.
You’ll pay for the music, the artist will get less, and you won’t have agency over how you can play the music you paid for. They’ll start paying by the stream instead of just offering albums for sale.
And that’s when the ads will start.
18-24 months, roughly. And that’s assuming Songtradr cares about maintaining any good will with the #Bandcamp community.
Hopefully I’m dead wrong about this.
In the process of moving to @joepie91. This account will stay active for the foreseeable future! But please also follow the other one.

Sometimes horny on main (behind CW), very much into kink (bondage, freeuse, CNC, and other stuff), and believe it or not, very much a submissive bottom :p

Strong views about abolishing oppression, hierarchy, agency, and self-governance - but I also trust people by default and give them room to grow, unless they give me reason not to. That all also applies to technology and how it's built.
