And also you should really sit for a moment with the question of where you picked up this belief, because it's certainly not historically supported.
thoughts on discussions about police abolition
Whenever discussing police abolition with people outside of radical circles, the dynamic is almost always the same: the default position is that its existence is default-good and its abolition is the case that needs to be 'proven', and it boils down to "the other person feels unsafe about a world without police".
Which, like, sure. But isn't it a little weird that I feel unsafe about a world *with* police, and somehow that's considered the weird position to take? That for some reason, that's seen as a position that needs defending, rather than it being taken on face value?
Why is "I feel unsafe about a world without police" somehow considered a more valid or reasonable position than "I feel unsafe about a world *with* police"? Even though, being the status quo, the former is much less likely to be a careful and well-supported conclusion?
CW-boost: assault
Something happened, and I didn’t notice it.
I’ve now took a ride on 103 different SNG train sets. There were 206 delivered (only 205 in service), so that means I’m halfway finding them all 🥲 #SNGChallenge
Also, game devs, if you post a teaser of something you're working on and literally everyone who guesses what it is guesses the same wrong answer, that means either your marketing sucked or you're developing the wrong thing
I also do not understand why game developers are remaking games where both the old version and new version look identical, have the same gameplay, and can run on the same computers.
And I don't understand people who say things like "they sold the franchise to this publisher, so they can't update the game anymore and that's why they're creating THE EXACT SAME IDENTICAL GAME WITH THE SAME TITLE instead"
for the fediverse to live up to its potential, you do have to report accts that violate rules. when you hit block you have the option of sending a report to the user’s admins, which is what it takes to remove abusive accts.
if someone is invoking systems of oppression in their posts or replies, it’s not just words, it’s harm that causes real stress, anxiety, ptsd etc, all of which are physically unhealthy and/or change a person’s ability to express themselves or seek and find community here
#PSA: If you are a #uBlockOrigin user, and you suddenly started getting ads on #YouTube, check out this Reddit post:
TL;DR: either purge the filter list cache or disable/re-enable the "Quick Fixes" list.

In other news, I'm currently recovering from this mild heart attack of suddenly experiencing ads on YouTube for the first time in probably 10+ years. 😵
Every so often I see a video or an article about "good news about the world that you've missed" and half of it is always shit like "billionaire has given some money to people" or "scummy NGO announces one of their campaigns was successful [even though the effectiveness of the campaign is in question]"
And like, do you even *understand* why people are so cynical and pessimistic about things?
I can't be the first person who has made this comparison, but being neurodivergent is a lot like driving stick shift when everyone around you drives automatic.
"What do you mean you need to listen to the noise your engine makes, and take the speed you're travelling into consideration?
Just keep your foot on the accelerator and push through! It's always worked for me. 🙄
And what's wrong with you anyway that you need to 'change gears', why do you need to label & pathologise everything? "
Grindr employees are organizing.
A “supermajority” of the “approximately 100 eligible members” have signed union cards to form Grindr United, according to a press release from the Communication Workers of America. The employees come from multiple departments at Grindr, including engineering, design, IT, marketing, and quality insurance.
Next, they’ll vote in a union election.
