i spent years thinking that i wasn't "really" trans

i "wanted to be" a girl

i hated "being" a boy

i fantasized about magic or science that could change my body

but somehow i still thought i wasn't "really" trans

bc i didn't say it

(scared)

and didn't transition

(super scared)

but i was ALWAYS trans

even before i said it

even before i transitioned

even before i knew the word

there's no legal amount of pride merch you have to own before you're 'really' trans

you are trans enough

hi small reminder, in the coming times please please do your best to cw transphobic stuff

yes i know it's important to share and make cis people aware of whats going on, but please. im so exhausted of being aware

if mass reporting can be weaponised somewhere on the internet, that place is obviously too big to moderate effectively

I unironically feel like a new person after getting back from the hospital

anyone else feel mild resentment towards button-shaped objects which are not pushable?

BREAKING: Social media app Twitter announces likes are now "florps", and users can expect the timeline to "go sideways". The company was not available for comment.

re: hospital, +

Also props to the people at the Jeroen Bosch hospital, they really did everything they could to make it a nice place to stay, despite circumstances :)

AI-generated images are becoming extremely convincing. It's becoming very easy (and cheap!) for bad actors to peddle them as part of disinformation efforts.

We cannot allow them to hide behind "oh dear I thought it's obvious!" afterwards.

I believe we need to start assuming bad faith when AI generated works are posted without being clearly marked as such, just as we assume bad faith when alt-right dog whistles are posted without them being clearly marked as sarcasm.

new sex workers online, just the quick PSA about money

please always make sure to read the ToS of any financial service before using it, and operate with caution. watch out for terms like 'pornographic' or 'obscene' in the part of the ToS that says what kind of transactions are disallowed.

stripe, paypal, cashapp, kofi, and a lot more, will not allow any kind of adult content. the reason is essentially that credit card companies consider sexual stuff 'high risk' (i believe due to the possibility of chargebacks and also because of the general hostile political landscape around even legal sex work). high risk transactions carry big fees and overall are rather disincentivized, so, basically everywhere says Nope

your safest bet will always be to set up thru platforms that exist primarily for or heavily are based on sex work - platforms like manyvids, onlyfans, etc. these platforms are, of course, still capitalist and bad and etc. but their core interest of 'making money from sexual content' aligns with your own enough to keep you safe in this regard.

that's all ✨

meta, "adoption"

Also more broadly, I'm once again amazed by how many dudes (yes, it's almost always dudes) keep going on about "adoption of the fediverse", seemingly without any idea of what the *purpose* of that adoption should be, what concrete problem it should solve

As if "adoption" is some magically virtuous thing in and of itself, regardless of purpose or consequences

Talking about implementing/standardizing search for fedi without explicitly mentioning marginalized folks is an immediate fail of the vibe check

"A branding program for products that have passed the test suite. As an implementor, you get to put the sticker on your product."

this is starting to feel awfully corporate of you j12t
