So apparently the Mastodon 4.x public toot view has copied Twitter's long-thread bug where you can scroll from the end to the start but not the other way around

Incredible, this is even worse than the barely-legible "Read more" button it used to have

Garbage collectors here (Den Bosch) were going to strike for 5 days. The strike was ended after only one day, because the city gave in and agreed to a salary increase of 12 percent instead of 5 percent. Nice!

I mean ... that is a blue LCD display so I suppose it has blue rays...

Blind person asking for pointers. Please boost and thank you.

Does anyone have any tips for a blind user for how to scan a QR code on Mac? I thought it was just one at first, but I can’t hit any of them. I used to be able to do this with PC. I’m locked out of some of my accounts now. To clarify, I need to scan the code on my Mac screen with my iPhone and can't hit the target. It is keeping me from using WhatsApp for desktop.

when someone tells you to stop doing a racist thing, you literally just have to stop doing that. they're not making an accusation about who you are as a person.

then again if you take an accusation of racism personally, like, I just might believe you that racism is a core part of your identity lmao.

y'all it's actually so tiring how often people respond to a request to stop doing racism by saying "how dare you call us racists."

no one is saying you are irredeemably a racist. I personally don't think anyone is. but everyone is swimming in white supremacy and unless you actively stop acting white supremacistly then it's periodically gonna come out of you. it's literally that simple.

Pfffft... Wildebeest is going well I see.

"The admins can read your DMs" is old baby news. How about "Everyone can read your DMs"?

In case you considered thoughts and prayers to be the least they could care. In case you thought they couldnt be more bored with this shootings at school thing.

I see another person is getting press for "inventing sign language gloves" so now is a good time to remind you that a) someone supposedly invents these at least once a year b) they basically never actually work and c) the Deaf community has repeatedly said they don't want them and that they don't really help.

Random Soapbox: I am against citation formats that include only authors' first name initials. They are Anglo-centric in assuming that there exist more variations in last names than first names; and they also assume the existence of last names!

TV shows do a timeskip without one of the main characters growing facial hair to show time passing challenge (impossible)

Teen Vogue is the only publication that, to my knowledge, always points out that the SAT was created by a eugenicist.

@welshpixie This one is a fan of birdcam but he was getting too rambunctious so I had to turn it off so he could go nap.

My goodness, but I would love if File Explorer / Nautilus / Finder style apps would display README.{txt,md,rst} files similar to how GitHub does it. Would love to be able to leave reminders to myself as to what the fuck a folder is for.

These days my go-to example of "you cannot bet on having access to better technology as time progresses" is "I used to have an app on my phone that could predict the next hour of weather with startling accuracy and that is no longer an option"

(I am talking about Dark Sky)

Edited to add: I only want to hear suggestions for services/sites/apps if they offer the same ~10min interval microforecasts for the upcoming hour that Dark Sky used to, because that is the thing I am lamenting

Holy shit. This was the local train station during carnaval, apparently.

they told me that sonnets needed to have a "turn" in them 🤷🏻‍♀️
