I am dead, I can’t believe this AI intro text I just got. If you thumb through it, there are all the usual suspects like breadth-first search and probability.
Then you open the first chapter and it goes HARD on the current state of things.
Then it’s back to mathematical notation like nothing happened.
hi all this is my #introduction post
1. i'm an indie gamedev from the bird site
2. my posts are like an open diary where i talk about my personal life & various forms of non-monogamy such as polyamory so if those topics interest you then you should def follow me
3. also post #gaming & #gamedev content sometimes
4. i don't reveal my identity for professional reasons so i'll be unhinged and chaotic sometimes
5. will post amusing screenshots of dating app usage
this is why we android users can't have nice things. omdat impulsieve clowns als musk zonder blikken of blozen system files weg zitten te mieteren zit onze telefoon zo op slot dat we met achttien google apps opgescheept zitten die met klinknagels in het scherm gemept zijn.
it may be an issue of how the conversations are being framed, but it's as if marginalized communities were never here
It would be good to engage with those of us that have been here and done some work
Something I don't think new users to this platform are considering, particularly for how queer PoC navigate this space, is that despite not having the same tools as birdlandia, we still have carved out ways to care for ourselves here
we have managed to build community across instances here
and that work, that precedent should not be forgotten or not considered in these fanciful critiques
sorry not sorry
Having a chat with the @Vivaldi folks about some of my concerns regarding the integration of Mastodon into the Vivaldi browser (and potentially having it extended by features only available in the Vivaldi browser; the first of which is sign in with your Vivaldi account, which only works on vivaldi.social).
What are your thoughts?
I always have mixed feelings about trans awareness week and trans day of visibility, because most cis people who talk about it go exclusively for the "you are valid" angle instead of the "trans healthcare has collapsed entirely and we need to do something about that" angle. Like I appreciate the first one, don't get me wrong, but sometimes it reads as a little shallow when you don't also talk about the second. You get me?
The fact that we've already gone from "it doesn't matter what server you join" to "it sometimes really matters what servers you join" is a huge leap forward in collective intelligence when thinking about social media.
We've moved from technological considerations to social, cultural & political considerations. We've already democratized our mindset when thinking about tech.
just a note for new artists coming to mastodon:
i've noticed some of you tried to censor words like "patreon/paypal/ko-fi" etc because you seemed to do that during your stay in twitter because the algorithms would prevent your post from being massively seen
but you don't have to do that in mastodon, because there is no algorithm at all!
so don't worry, you don't have to hide links and other stuff!!
(ps: don't forget to cw your art please)
have a good day!
Hey there, Admin of the Internet Archive Mastodon here. I've seen some people speculate/rumor that the Archive's mastodon instance is set up to be an involuntary vacuum spot for all toots passing back into the Wayback, and it is NOT that. Any archiving of toots would be some other project (and outside my knowledge) but the Internet Archive Mastodon is just another instance, doing the mastodon thing. Communicate with us at will.
Saw some takes today about defederation being bad because it means your clueless relatives will wonder why they can’t follow x big account (Stephen Fry for example) from their instance, which means they’ll just join dot social and stay there because it federates the widest.
My official position on this is that that fucking rules actually because you can just defed from dot social and chill with people you actually want to spend time with 👍
re: puzzle, regex (screenreader-unfriendly)
Believe it or not, this regex is actually extracted from a real, widely used software project :)
puzzle, regex (screenreader-unfriendly)
So, here's a regular expression (JS flavour):
^(?=( +|\t+))\1(?:\t| )
This regex matches (at the start of a line) both "1+ spaces followed by a tab" and "1+ tabs followed by a space", but it does *not* match a sequence of just spaces or just tabs.
How does it work?
(Make sure to CW your answers please!)
In the process of moving to @joepie91. This account will stay active for the foreseeable future! But please also follow the other one.

Strong views about abolishing oppression, hierarchy, agency, and self-governance - but I also trust people by default and give them room to grow, unless they give me reason not to. That all also applies to technology and how it's built.
